friends i hav secured admsn at mehran university, now there i hav to chose engg discipline and im v.confusd in that, plz help me. my choices r electrical, mech, telecom, petroleum, civil, what should i join.
is there any1 who belongs frm mehran uni or doing BS from PIEAS. can any1 tell me about PIEAS BS standard

If you like Airplanes…Aeronautical Engineer…
Highest Paid Engineering Profession is Chemical Engineer…they design chemical Plants and Petroleum refineries.
or if you want to travel by sea…study Marine Engineering.
can not help with what PIEAS…have no Idea what that is…must be a Pakistani Organization for Engineers!

hmmm B Eng from Mehran. I would go for Electronics & Communications, BUT Mehran's ELECTRICAL is their best department.

I would say go for the petroleum engineering, If you look at the top 7 country economies and how they grew in the last 20 years, you will know that their petroleum and electronics industry grew several hundred times and now just because of this rich development America is the big beast now. Pakistan, in the coming years will try to explore more oil resources within the country to fulfill its petroleum and gas demand and to keep the balance of import/export thing. You can make good money anywhere in the world once you complete the degree in one or other above said disciplines and have some experience, world doors will be open for you and you can go anywhere in the world to work. Currently Pakistani and Indian Petroleum and Electronics engineers in North America getting paid around 80-120 thousand annual with some other benefits.
Rest is up to you what you like and don't like, family living style and requirements.
If you complete your studies in Petroleum, you can find jobs in Russia to work where you can work without migrating there. Some companies offer 4 week work on site and then return tickets to your home country and you get 2 weeks off.

I don't see computer engineering in your choices. If you can't go for that electrical is pretty close to Computers. Go for that! You can get good jobs after that even abroad if you want.

You have to make a decision based on your own aptitude and goals.
Just looking at the choices you mentioned, I can just say that while Electrical & Mechanical Engineering will provide you with a portable repertoire of skills; Telecom and Petroleum would be more specialized... and if you do opt for a more specialized stream, you have to be a little more sure of yourself and your planned career path.

If you wnt to go in PAEC, KRL , KANUPP, CHASNUPP , INMOL( Shaikh Zaid hospital, Lahore) etc , then PIEAS is the best option .
thanks every1, but being honest im still confusd, i wanna join pak armed forcs after my BE, so which tech will b better.i have no intrest towards chemistry and im proficent in maths, plz help me further and soon coz only two days r left,

Why are you planning to join 'AFTER' your BE? I would recommend applying to either EME or MCS as a TC (Technical Cadet), perhaps even wait an year if you have to?

bro thanks , but i already hav been not recomended bi ISSB, now dnt wanna spoil last chanc now,thats why cant relay on technical cadet course. another thing i wanna ask u that as i read ur posts and know that u spent some time in EME college that whether nust cadets are better ot army cadets in academics.
i also applied at nust but due to their high merit i was not selectd in EME,CAE,MCS but in PNEC industrial engg which i didnt join.
so what would u prefer me?

It all depends on what you like... but I would say Mechanical or Electrical engineering would be a better choice for BS. In my opinion, these programs can provide you with a solid base. You can later specialize in any field of your choice. In addition, by that time you would have a clearer picture of what you want to specialize in. Being indecisive at this stage is quite normal.
Regarding PIEAC, from what I've heard its quite good.
