After being faithful to Napoleon for 5 years I wanto try something else.
Mac isnt that common in Australia and is only available in selected stores and I donot trust those churails at the counter with clown makeup on either.
I want minimum coverage with a shimmery look.
So who here uses Mac and what is their best foudnation for desi skin.

Growing up practically in my mums Salon and then being used as a dummy for any new things that were in from hairstyles to bridal makeups to acrylics, I got to a point where I started despising and hating it all.
My friends kept on going on and on bout how lucky I am to have a mum who could do my hair n stuff and I’d roll eyes at 'em.
So basically ive stayed away from makeup and hairstyles most of my life.
My sister is the oppositte though, she’s only 19 and she’s a pro at makeup, can whip up any hairstyle in fifteen minutes and looks so fab.

NOOOOOOOOOOO Addy, stay away from MAC - i have used it for about 2yrs and then i cam across Loreal truematch foundation - its the best foundation. I used to use MAC for special occasions but now its Loreal and Mac for normal daily use - Loreal given such nice coverage, its also light!
Same applies to Mac eyeshadows - i bought a rlly nice green shade - after a couple of hours, it started smudging - the next day i wore a cheap brand (collection2000) and that lasted me over 12hrs with no smudges!
MAC is a waste of money IMO!!

i ordered a mac foundayTon before my wedding why dont you go to the MAC website . you can choose between the select spf 15 or the studio fix. i went for the select and chose the NC20 shade. this shade does have a shimmery touch to it. as a matter of fact you can have a shimmery base wid nefin.
im a bit confused abt MAC i mean it can provide good coverage bt somehow it doesnt mke my skin look dt great bt dt is my skin ( it tends b a lil dry ) my sister uses MAC and her skin looks amazin.
so i wud recommend it becuz it provides flawless coverage and blends in well u cn never tell wid MAC dt u r wearin foundation .
sorry sunset i wud disagree wid u on MAC eyeshadows they r the best and MAC concealer and face powder r amazin , the concealer is a must hve if u hve blemishes or marks . its amazin.

MAC is cosmetic makeup and very "heavy" for daily use =) it provides full-coverage for problem skin and scars. I wud suggest a concealer by clinique and a foundation by bobbi brown. MAC gives our skin -tone a very grey complexion.
Bourjois has really nice eye-shadows and for model makeup and ramp makeup MAC is great, but not for everyday practical makeup =)

I use Studio Fix in both liquid and powder. I like the powder foundation for every day use when i just use a large brush (i love the ones frm MAC) to put it on. THe liquid works best for special occassions. I do see some flakes when put on dryish skin but i like the color choice better than any other brand out there including Clinique, Mary Kary, and other drug store brands. Although, everytime i go in and get matched, i get a different color. I currently have foundations in NC37, NC42 and C40. Go figure.
Adra, the best way is to go in a store and get them to match a color to your skin. Their MAs do look a bit ghoulish but most of them know their stuff, if not all.

Ive tried Clinique, the problem with most US foundations are that they are not designed for Australian weather.
We have extremely harsh and dry climate and the skin needs to be extremely hydrated 24/7.
So I need a foundation that doesnt become dry and start caking and flaking.
Thats why I love Napoleon, its Australian made and suitable for our climate.
But Im like so bored with it :(

mac works really good.. after 378264862864 foundations, nc 35 became my best friend. but it does dry my skin out really bad if i dont use moisturizer and their strobe cream. if you're in a dry and harsh climate then i wouldnt suggest getting a mac especially studio tech because it really dries your skin out. you can try other brands that are specifically for dry skin such as benefit or clinique.

Adra, i would highly recommend visiting a MAC counter and talking to the MAs there. The ppl who are giving you tips here are probably those with oily skin to begin with (atleast i am). They also have this stick type foundation that may be a bit heavier than what you are looking for but provides excellent coverage. I decided it wasnt for me since i have oily skin to begin with.

i do like MAC its amazin bt sumtimes doesnt suit my skin. it looks absolutely great on others dt wear it , go for it adra baji im sure it will look amazin on u .

anyone at a mac counter will be able to determine your skin tone and texture. most of them are pretty good at it so you should definitely ask them for advice.

I know what skin tone and type I am.
I have Oily to normal skin however since the climate is so harsh and dry, it gets a real challenge to find something that wont clog pores and yet provide the right amount of moisture.
Im going to go to MAC counter and snoop around soon.
Otherwise I'll just buy eyeshadows I suppose which i'll never use

MAC is actually quite good and so is Bobbi Brown. But Prescriptives make a custom color very light sheer foundation based on your skin type and exact coloring.

For oily skin you might wanna check out MAC's Matt foundation in compact. I noticed it worked great for me during weddings or parties when your face starts shinning or dripping with oil. Bad thing was I barely go to parties or weddings so i didn't use it a lot. One compact has a lot of foundation for 40 bucks. I ended up using it after few months and got pimples becuz it had become old...I guess I should have thrown it away. If you need to use it for parties weekly, then it is great for you. Just be sure to change it every 2 months as it can clog ur pores badly due to its thickness.
There is another one MAC 15 SPF tinted foundation in a bottle. Personally I never bought it but looks like it can be used daily since it is light weight.

Go to cosmetics stores and ask for help...its better that way.
studio - fix is something i like and use along with cliniques oil control formula..since i have oily skin. bodyshop is also good.

I've used Lancome, i think its pretty nice.
But i want to try mac too...and bare escentuals.
I think foundation is gonna be my obsession this year =/
