I used Chanel for over a year, but then switched back to MAC Studio Fix, the liquid instead of just the powder.
But its very difficult to get the right shade.
I went to Selfridges, John Lewis, the MAC shop and Harrods on the same day and every single counter gave me different advise. So it really depends on where you go, I even tried a few MAC counters when I was in America and they did the same. It really does depend.
Im beginning to believe that if you dont need it, dont wear it. I wish I didnt need it! :(
^you know....i dont know why..but i never had the guts to wear foundation/powder...i cant get comfortable with the idea of 'second skin'
never bought it....i go around the makeup counters looking and admiring it and everything..but never bought any... :-(
i am such a wimp..
i use mac...i like the way it looks on my skin...but like everyone else you'd have to go in for them to tell you what's right...i need a lot of coverage, so i my foundation is suit ed for that
and my friend is obsessed with their eyeshadows
as a sort of an aside, i know a lot of girls around here that get their makeup done from mac for their weddings, and i think their makeup looks fabulous
oh and someone mentioned prescriptives matching your shade...it depends...the store near me didnt mix shades, you have to go to specific stores for that and its more expensive (not that mac or any of the other big brands are cheap, its just custom made is even more expensive) so if thats the direction you wanna go, make sure you have it nearby or are willing to make the trek out to wherever it is

Well, for every day i can live without heavy foundation, i mean my skin isn't perfect by any means but i dont let it bother me much. but for parties and special occasoins i do like to put on foundation and stuff...i gguess its good to not get used to it?

i dunno but one of my friends got me started on it and since then i can't live without it!!
wish i hadn't started :(...my skin was fine grrr
No it doesnt have to be MAC, I just wanto try it out since everyone here raves bout it.
I should have gotten it from Pakistan, they were selling it in D-Mart but I wasnt sure how long the bottles had been sitting there on the shelves.
A friend of mine got MAC and her skin looks so illuminous and shimmery, maybe its her skin i suppose it might not look good on me.
Has anyone tried those powders that come in a compact with different shades of skin?? I dont know the name but apparently when you apply it to your face like any face powder the different shades balance out your skin tone.
bisoux you are right, once you try it, you’ll get hooked onto it and its kinda nice to have an even skin tone and a base for makeup if you are going out to parties.
I only use it while Im coming to work since I spend close to 11-12 hours and my skin esp nose has the tendency to produce enough oil to make biryani and qorma.
For other normal days, I use BodyShops blotting papers. They are nice
Mac makeup is actually more expensive than it is here in US. 2000 Rs. for a n eyeshadow that costs $1350 here!
I know that thing ur talknig abt but i haven’t seen it in dept stores only in drug stores..teh brand name is Physician’s Formula. never tried their stuff but i guess its sposed to be gud
MAC is ideal for those that want full-coverage and have pigmented skin. If u happen to be fair then MAC wud also work for you. At depilex we use MAC and i've seen that it tends to look slightly grey on "sanwali" complexions =) that's when we use bobbi brown foundation that has yellow undertones and work well. Follow-up with loose-powder to "set" u're make-up.
Have you tried Benefit foundation? I’ve been using it for over a year now and I love it. Like many people have said, MAC is too heavy and I just don’t think it matches our skin tone. It’s either too light or too dark, a bit too visible on the skin for my liking.
For that shimmering glow, you can also try Stella’s tinted moisturizer. It’s more for everyday. It didn’t suit my skin type cause have combination skin, (it made me look too greasy) but it’s won awards.
Actually, if you want just a glow even without a foundation (or with, it’s up to you), you should really get Dr. Feelgood by Benefit. It’s wonderful.
I don’t use mine with a powder … but they do have other powder options available. I use the liquid foundation and I actually used it on my wedding too and it looked quite natural. It’s available here in Jakarta and in Singapore … so I am guessing it should be available in in Australia too.
I got the Dandelion one but my sister really liked it so I gave it to her. I also got Dr. Feelgood which you can wear on its own or underneath make up to give your skin more of a glow.
There is also this product which has won awards by Stila. It’s a tinted moisturizer … but when I used it, it made me skin extremely greasy and oily and I ended up throwing it out. Maybe it would work better on other skin types.
I'll look into it Mehnaz, Australian and Indonesian climates are kinda similar i think, although indnoesia experiences more of Monsoon and so does the western part of Australia. Not the east though.
So you dont use powder at all?? Doesnt it make it look oily??
No. I use a good moisturizer so my face doesn't normally look oily.
However, I DO have an oily t-zone. After a few hours, my nose does sometimes get some shine .... but I don't have anything specifically for that. Back in Canada, I would use the Dandelion powder (very lightly as it is strong) on my face if I got shine.
It's really humid here and we are in our monsoon season. It's hot and sticky ... I don't think there is really any one product out there that can fix it. Actually, there are powders, but I'm not too fussy about it. I don't want to put too much on my face. Plus, with AC, unless you are walking outside for a long time, you don't really feel it here (or get the shiny after effects).
