Im a new to the forum, and have read so many posts, people are so helpful!
I am getting married in Lahore in April and need some urgent help in looking for a wedding lehenga…I was always under the impression that shopping in Lahore would be much cheaper than buying my outfit in London,(where i live).
How wrong was I Lahore is soo expensive too,if you want some thing stunning…im told 1 lakh is the average price for something that is nice…any ideas, where I could go for a lehenga around 600pounds.
Ive got a beautiful red stone antique gold set that I need to match with the lehenga, any help would be most appreciated, thanks guys xx…
"Nice" is relative i guess...if u have the hangup that only designer is acceptable, and everything less is nothing, then yeah, be prepared to spend 1 Lakh... but if u go the normal route of buying a wedding dress (bazaars, not necessarily designer) then u can get anything from 20,000 to 150,000...
I guess you have to shop around,im only going out there two weeks b4 the wedding,so kind of need to rely on family in lahore to make decision for me.I am open to anything, doesnt have to be designer.
^ have any of htem gotten married (I mean recently)....so they might know where to go? that would make it easier. Uhm, since u dont have much time, u can get one that's ready made (that has all the kaam already on it) and just get it stitched in ur size...
yeh i mite have too,i just dont want to be under the pressureof shopping everyday!il guess il have too look around on websites for ideas and wait till i get there
hi pak 26, ur prob gna find it very hard to get a 600 quid lengha from liberty market as i have just come back - i did the thread my time in lahore! I couldnt believe the prices! as red is a common colour, and is worn for the barat, they are always more expensive. Mind you, if u go to think pink, u could haggle to around 700-800 quid - as thats the cheapest store at liberty for lenghas i found - but then again i may be wrong as it was only walima lenghas which were around 600 mark. Anarkali deffo has lenghas at that price but compared to liberty market they aren't as nice - if ur from the uk, as me, i dont think u'll like them. Other prob is if u have already made ur set, it may be harder to match it with the lengha, make sure u take it with u!!!!!! Most red lenghas i saw had damante work on them instead of gold - at liberty markert. But anarkali had loads with gold kaam on them - try bano and babar bazar at anarkali.
if u have two weeks, there is no way at liberty market that they will make it on time - if u want one from there get ur cousins to check it out. best bet is anarkali if u have a short time, where u take the lengha to ur own darzi to get it sown. only prob here is the fitting wont be as good as the darzi's who do them if u place an order - ie at libert market. my god, i seem obsessed with liberty................wish i was there again!
its got some lahore listings too… the good thing with designers is, you can call ahead and make an appointment so you’re not rushing around when you get to lahore.
actually, could a mod change the name of the thread from “karachi designers - contact info” to “pakistani designers - contact info”? it might make it easier to search for.
Thanks Silsila,at least i know what to look out for....i agree with u I did notice alot of recent wedding lehengas red with diamante work rather than antique gold! a cousin of mine mentioned a bina mahmood in Lahore which will cost me around 800pounds at the cheapest.mite give that a try then atlease i dont need to worry in april two weeks b4 the wedding!
oh and thanks somegroovychick i will check that other thread bout the karachi designers out.....bear with me........ im new to the forum!
is there a particular design you love and could send a pic to a relative to in lahore? that way they could get started on the designing of it and when you arrive, you could get the fitting done?
Thanks guys....my friends sorted out booking with a designer in lahore.....alot out of my budget! but i just dont want to stress just to get a bargain! u only get married once...inshalla it will be the perfect outfit!
to see the bridal collection u have to book an app, as they are not on display, i found that with all desugners in lahore, best to ring in the day u get there as apps will be a few days after that
I would suggest what SGC said: try to find a pic of what you want and maybe have one of your relatives in Pak get taht kaam done on teh kind of fabric you want. This gives you more variety to work with. And this type of thing takes atleast a couple of months from what i know so the sooner you let them know, perhaps the better.
hey guys....i ditched that idea and spoke to someone from this forum who designs lehengas...she sent me pics of lehengas within my budget... i found a pic of something really nice! inshalla it works out.....
pak26, no disrespect to the person who emailed you, but you must be careful as its still a fair bit of money and u are in a state of 'panick' trying to sort things out, dont make a harsh decision. even though u have two weeks in pakistan, its best to see before u buy, as once its paid for and u see it for the first time, there is no going back. things always look different in pics than real life, trust me!
I agree wid silsila . it is best to buy a lengha from pakistan my lengha was 70,000 which is nearly 600 pounds bt we cut sum kaam as it s too much kaam on it and it turned out to be 64,000 this is from ali zari house in anarkali he had the best lenghas better then all designers IMO.
