These days you can get the prettiest jamavar material and even self-print jamavar which has an amazing "fall" and drapes well too! I was stunned to see such gorgeous fabrics! And the kaam-wala's can copy most of the designs..so sift thru magazines and pick u're fav kaam!
My personal fav is Umar Sayeed and my heart sank when he quoted 4 lakh's =( that's plain absurd!
pak26, no disrespect to the person who emailed you, but you must be careful as its still a fair bit of money and u are in a state of 'panick' trying to sort things out, dont make a harsh decision. even though u have two weeks in pakistan, its best to see before u buy, as once its paid for and u see it for the first time, there is no going back. things always look different in pics than real life, trust me!
Ive had all these thghts going thru my mind 2....ive asked them to make contact wid my relatives in lahore.....im all panic stations at the moment
If you want to recyle the lahnga my wife wore , I can send it to you. Althogh it is 16 years old but it still looks very new. Why waste so much time andd money on something you will wear only for one day I did not know better 16 years ago. If I could undo it , this is the only way if it gets recycled. I think I am going to start a website where Pakistani 'Bhari Jura's' get a new home like they put their pets for adoption in Western countries. So the visitors of the site will put their old Bhari Jura for adoption. ( Bhari Jura stay in the boxes for years and years)
your best bet would be to surf around the websites and find a lehnga you like, get someone from Pak to get it made, it takes ard 3 months. That way it'll cost ard £500-£600, and you won't be under stress to FIND SOMETHING within say a week matching to your set and looking like everywhere, you'll need time to get it stiched your size etc and u'll need to give that prob a week if someone your relatives know could do it, normally they take time if you are not a regular. Yea so get it made. I got my wedding lehnga made from India through a retailer on Green street (east london) who my grandfather knew. It was gorgeous and fraction the price i saw on green street, all gorgeous stuff was between £1300-£2500!
