His name is Vinod or Raj or Shiv or something or the other, and he lives in Delhi.
I am so ANGRY. WHY are companies outsourcing? I am so tired of calling tech support for computer related things and then getting Indians who have NO idea what I’m talking about.
I ask the guy a simple question - Bellsouth has this 2-Wire technology that is a built in modem and router in one. This (clearly white) tech support guy had told me about it a month ago. I’ve been having horrible problems with my wireless connection, so I called them to find out details on it, but I couldn’t remember the name of the technology.
I get on the phone and some Indian lady picks up and says that there is no such technology for my optic fiber connection. I tell her that she must be mistaken, so she transfers me to tech support. Richard from Tech support picks up and he has me on hold for 1 HOUR. I’m asking him about the technology and if it exists or if I talked to some ghost earlier, and he’s keeping me on hold while he checks my lines and does diagnostics. He gets back on the phone, and I’m like “Did you even UNDERSTAND my question???”
This was after repeating the question like 3 times.
His response was “I’m sorry…what was the question again?”
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
They can’t communicate that well in English, otherwise I wouldn’t be repeating the same question again and again.
They don’t know their own company well enough cuz they, despite being technicians who FIX these things, had no idea what a 2-wire gadget is.
They’re bloody foreigners and they’re taking away jobs from Americans who can do it better.
They finally transferred me to someone in Georgia and she, being an American and actually being able to understand the words COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH, was able to answer my questions and give me the details on this 2-Wire contraption.
I am sooooo frustrated at these Indian tech support people.
We pay for our service in dollars to get desi-quality service.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
PCG, I understand your frustation but let me correct you on something. Outsourcing is good for America and its economy period end. Any economist worth his weight will tell you that. Anything else is just liberal drivel .....
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Outsourcing is only good for the company's higher up who get a bigger profit in the end. Outsourcing saves the corporation money. Not average Americans.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
PCG again check with the economists...what you are telling me is what you see on the surface. Its much deeper than that. We dont need to revisit the whole outsourcing dilemma here....check your economy books...you will see what I am saying is true.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Kaleem, outsourcing is not some one known fact that 100% it will help the economy. If it was, why are the greatest minds debating it? Now let your ego go and at least admit that its a debateable topic, rather than asking me to read up on my economics.
Jaise ke aap ko sab kuch aata hai. Man, the testosterone-hyped egos I see on this website. I could fill the biggest bank's vault with it, and it would still overflow with putrid chauvinism.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
oh shut up! who says these white folks don't windup! or by default you assume that if its a white person then he must be right!! jezz whatelse you expect if you urself not sure about what u are asking for! typical paki! Try calling BT (British Telecom) sometime and you will know what incompetency is all about! (BT is not completely outsourced yet and if you get lucky, you may have **the HONOUR **of speaking with real Mr Richard somewhere in Edenburgh, with no knowledge what so ever about the technical terms or service status; whose only qualification is that he is white "which of course is more then enough for desis like you")
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Uncle Falker, I'm not familiar with the British system. I'm talking about Americans. Americans are way more competent than Brits. That's why Mr. Richard of Edenburgh has no knowledge of what he's saying.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
PCG, I am really sick and tired of your rants and rave. You are one twisted person. I was not telling you that I know everything or did not imply that you dont know about this topic because you are a woman. I was just trying to help/guide you to the answer. You like learning new things on your own dont you? Is that too much to ask?
Now that you have asked for it, let me put you in your place. maybe its time you dropped your bitchy attitude and learn something.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Someone’s post needs to be edited apparently
On one hand you tell me : I was just trying to help/guide you to the answer. You like learning new things on your own dont you? Is that too much to ask?
And then you say:
Now that you have asked for it, let me put you in your place. maybe its time you dropped your bitchy attitude and learn something.
Apparently, you weren’t trying to “help me understand” your viewpoint. You think you are 100% right, and that anyone who contradicts you is flat out wrong and there is no doubt about it.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
No PCG, I dont need to edit my post. I am constantly amazed by your bitchy attitude towards men. You turn every thread into men vs women somehow. you have a special knack for it. and Yes you asked to be put in your place…i was trying to guide you before the refrenced post.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Nice try, now go back to your books or better yet go back to the kitchen and cook soemthin nice for your father/brother/boyfriend. Take your pick…obviously you have wasted your father’s (ooops..male refrence again) money.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
^ again, more insults.
Its a perfectly good thread. You people - tum longon ko chayn nahi aata hai - achi cheez ko barbaad kar ke hi chorna hai.
Kaleem, the only thing here that is a waste is you and your self-professed intellect.
Quit thinking you're the only one that is right. This topic is being debated by the best economists in the world. Who are YOU to say that there is only one opinion on it?
Outsourcing takes jobs away from Americans. As a result, the households that COULD have had an income, do not have an income. Outsourcing is hitting the US economy hard, IMHO, in this respect.
The rich keep getting richer
And the poor get...children (Great Gatsby)
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
That’s why I am outsourcing my work to Islamabad-Pakistan, a muslim country where we have a moral Islamic obligation as muslims to reach out for work in such countries, with our extpertise knowledge in whatever, for the betterment of the muslim Ummah
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
PCG, trust me, the only thing that wreaks up this whole board is you. You have such a small mind that you did not even care to look at the websites I quoted for your knowledge. I am well aware of the fact that bet minds are debating this issue, however, just like outsoucing of manufacturing did not kill american economy, outsourcing of stell indutsry did not kill american economy, neither will IT outsourcing or services for that matter.
I did not say that there is only one opinion. I know there are differing opinions on this topic, however, I have as much right to voice my opinion as you. So quit whining and learn something new for a change.
Yep, small minded folks like you look at the small picture.... It does take away some jobs from americans, however, in the long run it creats more high paying, high intellect jobs for the american (you would not know that). You have a limited outlook on life which is even more constricted by your estrogen/NOW agenda.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
If you're having problems with your wireless connetion, why were you looking around for wired solutions? did you give up on wireless?
I generally find the level product ignorance is more amongst locals here and Indians are pretty well informed, but you have to know to ask the right question.
From your language here it is coneivable that you approached this guy with such a chip and attitude that you were likely not very clear. Happens when you let baser emotions ("these Indians...") get the better of you
