No, I absolutely never said that it will KILL the economy. I'm saying, that it does have its negative effects. The positive effects are high intellect jobs...but for the upper crust of society. Not for the average joe who needs a 9-5 dumbarse job to put food on the table for his family.
Those guys in India are not doing massive intellectual brainwork. They read step-by-step from a manual given to them.
Give them a non-typical situation, and they don't know how to cope. It took the guy I talked to a full hour to realize what I was saying. I even told him at the 45 minute mark, that if he doesn't know what he's doing, then why not just transfer me? He said "hold on moment, I am going to speak to my supervisor". Then 15 minutes later he comes on and asks me to check my connection to see if it works now. I told him "Look buddy, you're really getting me ticked off, did you understand MY QUESTION?"...at which point he asked me to repeat it AGAIN, after which I went ballistic on Jhatender jee's butt.

PCG now you are talking sense. I agree that it will take away low paying jobs, but understand that outsoucring these jobs provide us low cost services that now include banking and some are ven considering law firms. As these services are moved overseas, they provide an opportunity for all americans to retrain themselves for a brighter future. One time small "hick-up" should not discourage people.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
jammies is one of them methinks.
I don't know what the hell a "dial out router" is. I have a fiber optics connection. My desktop is connected to router by wire 1, and router is connected to jack in wall by wire 2. I'm wireless communicating with the router.
The 2-wire solution i was asking for is not a wired solution. Its a router/modem combined - you can put the gadget anywhere in the home. It doesn't have to be connected to a wall even.
Kaleem, that opportunity is not for everyone. I work in Miami and our homelessness and poverty rate is high here - its enough to put Karachi to shame. Even college graduates in Florida don't have a laughing chance at a decent job these days unless they go on to professional school or masters degrees.
And IT guys are really suffering here. All these kids that were hoping to get jobs in IT are all byatching about how there are less opportunities now in the field than when they decided to go for the degree - mainly because of outsourcing.
Fact is, you move jobs away from here, its not creating MORE jobs here...its just increasing the qualification you need to get an IT job here.
Re: Hello, This is Tech Support. My Name is Richard
Its NOT a two-wire fiber optic connection.
Its a fiber optic connection with a home networking solution (a new one apparently) where bellsouth provides you with a gadget that is a router/modem in one. They gave the gadget the name "2-wire". Now what is so 2-wire-y about it, I have no clue. Call Bellsouth's Richard in Delhi and maybe he can tell you more info on how the technicalities work.
Actually its no different from a regular commercial router. All it is, is some home-made router. It casts the signal the same distance, and signal is still prone to getting cut off from interference.

I'm sorry I'm not an engineer, so I have no idea how these things work. The only thing I understand in circuits is DC circuits. At AC circuits, I gave up on physics and engineering.
