Rent a room to Pakistani and next day, some people from either IB or local police will start torturing the hotel owner.
Indians are baniyas to the core, it would have hurt the hotelier to leave the prospective customer but why take trouble with the police and intelligence bureau.

What happened was disgusting. The hotel operators should be ashamed of themselves. More than 50% of the comments in the article were heartless, cruel and total devoid of humanity.
Indian government should invite the family back and give them a great time.

News is very alarming and shows intolerance on the part of hospitality industry. This industry might avoid controversy, but such news adds to controversy. Now every Pakistani visiting Mumbai will think hundreds times about accommodation. So, banyas (hotel wala) did not play very well in this case.
Another question that came to my mind is generally mazar like Haji Ali got some facilities for accommodation of visitors. Don't they have such facility at Haji Ali Mazar? I think its a small structure on an Island, but over the period places like this get accommodation and lodging facilities in surroundings in form of cheap hotels.
I hope Delhi will not show such banyapan and if not a hotel then Khanqah of Nizamudin can provide some refuge to its visitors.

You know what I still can't get over? Apparently we have/had text books in Pakistan suggesting how India plotted and continues to plot against Pakistan but nowhere in the curriculum do we teach about the Holocaust. I know there's no comparison between the two but I'm still floored when something as huge as the Holocaust is not even touched upon or talked about but hatred against India is openly appreciated......
I havent seen any curriculum in the enlightened west teaching about the partition and the blood shed that followed. While Holocaust is taught in great detail the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is painted as necessary to end the war to hide the shame of killing hundreds of thousand innocent civilians . It is all about perspective. How many people were killed in these two bombings in one blow?

I have no loyalties towards India. I merely state what I have seen. Your suggestion that I've played CNN to keep my loyalties is an example of how an opinion is quashed by implicating bias where none exists. We are so blinded by perceived threats that we don't even want to hear opinions that might prove our own to be misguided.
I have family ties to both India and Pakistan so maybe I am exposed to opinions from both sides and can more easily see the disparity.
Let me give you an example..... my bhabhi's family hails from punjab in India.....her mother proudly tells us of '71 when Pakistani fighter jets would run missions over northern India. she tells with tears in her eyes how her whole community would pray that they could be successful in their mission and return to safety across the border without harm.
I have met many, many Indian people of differing backgrounds and faiths and it is very, very rare that anyone has ever expressed any anti-Pakistani or anti-Muslim sentiment. I wish I could say the same for Pakistanis. It takes a very tiny pro-Indian comment in any Pakistani gathering to launch a full scale anti-India verbal attack with emotions at full flare. I find that sad. Don't you?
Go on any online forum and see the hatred spewed by Indians against Pakistanis. They are no angels as you are trying to paint them. With the current anti Islam hysteria in the west, indians have been in the fore front riding on the tail coats of the west to defame Islam and Pakistan.
What have you got to say about this incident which showed the love of Indians for Pakistanis. Maybe fault of the couple to go to Mumbai?

Religious Dharamshalas wouldn't have had problem at first place. In delhi, Pakistanis can always turn to their High Commission if nothing works out.
Almost 10 years ago, a resident of A block in my colony rented 4 Kashmiri Muslims who later turned out people who attacked the Parliament, police handled Mr Sharma so badly that he died after one year. Now nobody rents Kashmiri Muslims any house in Colony, even though my locality is Mecca of Civil Services aspirants.

I swear. Every atheist video I see on line. There would few people from india suggesting to wipe out muslims entirely. With Swearing, of all kinds.

You have got to be kidding me!
The injustice here is done by Indians. The whole situations is completely black and white. There are absolutely no grey areas, so no ifs or buts. And still some Pakistanis managed to turn all the blame on Pakistan by dragging in totally irrelevant information.
Just unbelievable and utterly disgusting.Talk about slave mentality.

That is not too surprising sadly. The number of Pakistani’s bashing their own country is disgusting.
On the topic at hand - that is not too surprising either. Indians hate Pakistan a lot more than we hate them. With Pakistani’s it’s all bollywood, IPL and Indian worshipping. Our actresses whoring themselves in Bollywood, ex-cricketers, singers, all the same, all embarrassing and pathetic especially when you compare how their Indian counter-parts treat us.
The fact that Indian films make millions in Pakistan is unbelievable, even more so when you consider all the terrorists India funds in Pakistan.
Responding to the nonsense their government comes out with is seen as “pointless dick swinging”.
No backbone or self-respect basically from a lot of Pakistanis sadly. Inexcusable and these people should be ashamed of themselves.

Thats understandable considering the recent incidents like Mumbai attacks, etc. But still when there is a process for Pakistani / Indian visiting other country and reporting to local police station, I don’t understand why this family faced all this. After reporting police station, they might get some papers from Indian police that can be presented at hotels alongwith visas. But probably, the things are not that simple and police and intelligence harassment lead hotel owners acting this way.
What I found positive that this was not hidden (brushed under the carpet), by Indian media. At least Times of India reported it. Hope in future, no family face such situation on any side of the border.
@SID_NY I think the title of the thread is quite misleading, which have lead certain comments about ‘we Pakistani also hate Indians’. Though, I don’t have any measurement tool to measure who hates others more.

Ahh..now i feel slightly better. When Indians dont give respect to Kasmiris who they claim are a part of India, then how can they show humanity towards Pakistan whose existence they dont even accept.
Now atleast we should agree that Kashmiris are so damn right to struggle for their independence since Indians arent even ready to provide wut is given to rest of the citizens.
And about your first point, I wish it could only be suspicion. Its simply their hatred and bigotry. As you yourself explained how Kashmiri muslims are mistreated, it can be concluded easily that its more because of being a muslim, whether a kashmiri or a Pakistani.
On the other side, thousands of Sikhs visit Pakistan to their religious dargah like Guru Nanak nearby hasan abdal etc. The hospitality shown by Pakistanis is always epic. And thats why i claim that there is no way a Indian family would go thru the same in Pakistan.
I just wish Indians learn something good from their neighbors.

I don’t know if certain procedures were followed or not, technically, Mumbai is better city that Delhi in every parameter including Woman safety, I was strolled at Nariman point at 2AM in night which is not possible in Delhi ever.
I am telling why generally things happen, root cause is as important as wrong done here, isn’t it?
I am Bahu of Kashmiri Pandits so I claim my district of Varahmula as Indian. But since Kashmiri muslims had killed our relatives and my Nanad died due to exodus, I won’t rent any of my property to any Kashmiri Muslim and still I will claim my right to Varahmula/Baramulla. That said, even if you had been in the position of Mr Sharma as I told, rest of your colony wouldn’t have taken risk, people are here to make money by renting not to get killed. We are baniyas you know

Usually when you're going to be staying in a foreign country, you ALWAYS make the hotel booking IN ADVANCE........not when you get there. Did this family have anyone sensible to advise them of this BEFORE traveling ?? Not even the travel agent or their relatives in india ?
Did the Indians not question their plans, where they would stay in Mumbai before issuing the visas?
Should've gone to a better place than to go see some bollywood mediocre actors. What a waste of money.

^ Hospitality is a great Pakistani trait. Most Indian artists now realise this.
I think it is about time Pakistan also introduce extremely strict checks and balances on Indian visitors - with whole MQM and RAW agents getting caught in Karachi and Lahore - a tight, no nonsense and proactive measure needs to be taken.
Of course that doesn't mean to say stoop to Mumbai's level and make a family with small children and elderly sleep on the roads.
