A man randomly giving a woman a diamond ring is not guaranteed to make her happy. What if the ring was not her style? She’d feel beholden to wear it it all the time and she’d feel guilty that she didn’t like it. She’d feel bad that he spent that much money on something she didn’t even like. She may even start to hate the ring because it causes her to feel so much guilt.
She might even begin to feel embarrassed about the ring!
