Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

Hey guys!

I’ve started this thread because I really need to stop eating junk food and I think that putting in writing what I eat will really help me to control my cravings.

This will be a great diary for anyone who is trying to lose weight or keep fit in general.

I think it’d be great if we could all add our reason for joining this thread. I’ll start:

My reason for joining this thread - to start eating healthily and tone up. I am a UK size 8-10. My aim is not to lose weight but to start eating healthily and maintaining healthy eating habits as I always seem to feel tired and lazy due to snacking too much!

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

this is a gooodddd idea!!! i reallly need to lose some weight!! im a UK 12-14 and want to be a comfortable 10. im excercising 20 mins on the cross trainer before each meal and i burn 200 calories each time, so thats like 600 calories a day.

So far.

Brunch.

Grilled chicken and cous cous salad...with peppers onions tomatoes cucumber and sweetcorn.

1 cupa green tea.

Afternoon meal....half a pepper and 2 carrots with oil free home made hummous.

Dinner lentil soup...i.e. a yummy spicy daal..but no bread or no rice.

Snacks....strawberries or blueberries.

I will update at the end of the day about what ive actually eaten.

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

Inspiron your brunch sounds delicious! I've never tried cous cous!

I've had a day off work today and had a very busy morning so wasn't able to have a proper breakfast. However made sure to have a well balanced evening meal.
**
Breakfast**
Banana
Glass of water

Lunch
Some seviya left over from yesterday

Dinner
Chaneh chaval
Aloo gosht

Yoghurt

Snacks throughout the day

1 jammy dodger biscuit

Snacks are my real issue even though I have recently cut back loads on the amount I'm consuming. Now that I've stopped eating so much chocolate I don't even think about it or miss it, which is a good thing really.

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

Angel...here is my fat free hummus recipe

15 ounces chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 whole lemon, juiced
1 whole garlic cloves
2 tbsp vegan mayo (fat-free)
2 tsp water
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp coriander

blend together and voila!!! you can also omit the mayo for totallllyyy healthy or if you want to be indulgent a little olive oil or tahini paste.

I also add jalapenos, peppers, caramalised onions, paprika to make different flavours.

I find its much healthier and tastes great!

Yum! thanks for sharing...

I am no expert but here is what i found that helps.

I started working at this place where they have a canteen which has a salad bar. I guess being semi broke helps that I was only able to afford that salad and water for lunch. Mind you there are soooo many different varieties of salads some that i have not even heard of before. I love it. And its so tasty. So I found that switching just one meal a day really helped me. Also i guess another factor was that it is a 15 minute walk to the station from home and 10 minute walk from station to work. So walking roughly 50 mins a day. I have found that my pants have started to fit more losely. Mind you I eat galore on the weekends prob evens out.

But I guess just changing one meal a day and maybe getting off 1 stop before your station and walking the rest. In one month you can really see the difference. And saves you on Gym fees :)

In regards to Hummus recipe..Thanks...So how do you blend this altogether? in a blender?

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

for the hummus yup in a blender or a fork if you want more texture :)

1 crepe with a tiny bit of maple syrup
3 slices of watermelon
1/2 cup tea

Snack:
1 yoghurt

Lunch:
1 slice of lentils pie thing.
rice
salad
a small piece of cake.

Wow, that's a lot of food.

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

Breakfast

Made a protein shake

Snack

Some goldfish crackers

Lunch

Low fat taco dip and chips. Yumm

Snack

Blueberries

Dinner

Grilled fish, spicy corn salad

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

Yesterday I had:-**

Breakfast**
Apple

Lunch
Cheese and Onion pasty (had to grab something quickly as I forgot to take lunch in to work)

Dinner
Roast dinner - chicken, potatoes and carrots.
Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream

Today:

Breakfast
2 slices of french toast

Lunch
Muffin pizza

Dinner (which will be later on this evening)
Fresh saag & one roti

I have managed to not snack on crisps/chocolates/sweets for the past 2 days so am feeling rather happy with myself lol. I don't count the ice cream as being naughty, you need a bit of sugar in order to have a balanced meal :P

And Zash01 I totally agree, walking does wonders for keeping the body toned! And it doesn't feel like a chore like exercising does!

Re: Healthy eating : Lets all keep food diaries

so how long u have been on this diet and what r the results.

breakfast:
1 slice of white bread with fried egg
