a question for all those that have gone out with non-desi..
isn’t it hard to do the same type of stuff they do? like i mean most people go clubbin’, have a few drinks…things like that. what do you do in a situation like that then, where you’re not supposed to be doing those things..
or do you just do it?

Haram is haram, people who can date, kiss, feel up and have sex with a namahrem kaafir will not worry too much about not going for a drink with them or die of guilt after eating a roast pork dinner (with sage stuffin n all) at their boyfriends/girlfriends moms place for sunday lunch.

how many of these non desi spouses have actually converted, if you dont mind me asking ?

I converted before I met my husband, so did several other non-desi spouses that I know of. I know quite a few mixed race couples, and almost all of the ladies convert before marriage, although some in name only.

I think in general if you are looking for a religious wife you will find one, desi or not, and if you are looking for a wife who is not so much, you'll find that too... very few guys whose wives converted in 'name only' were looking in the right places for a pious wife.

I dont know abt. the haram thing but there’s one thing for sure you realize- non-desis are so freakin’ different and thats irritating! I hate the feminazi in the girls and I hate the guys using girls for sex or masti. I think for the goras everything is a contract including love, passion, pyar and even marriage! Laanat on their life..

Wait..Afghanis are not Desi? I’m Kashmiri and Afghani so what does that make me? But back to topic. I think it’s pretty typical of some ABCD’s to test the waters with a Gora/Gori, like in highschool or college. I have families members who are white and they’ve fit into our family beautifuly and we’ve embraced their culture as well. It really depends on the individual when you speak of race or culture. It’s about give and take to make it work.

i agree..i onverted to islam loooooooooooong time ago…and learnt most of the desi culture:halo:, so i am more desi than lots of ABCD:D

Afghans are NOT Desi, sometimes they are ignorantly classed as South Asian but I would say they are Central Asian because that's what the Afghan textbooks I have read say, even if geographically they are classed as South Asian by some or they become a part of SAARC for political reasons they are certainly not racially or culturally Indic, they are Iranic like fellow Central Asian countries such as Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and all that lot.

Desi are majority of the people from South Asia and by South Asia I mean Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives. These countries have a Dravidian and Indic (branch of Indo-Aryan) heritage and a liking for curry which gives them a cultural and racial commonality.

People from Afghanistan and Bhutan are ignorantly classed as Desi (South Asian) but they are not, the Afghans are Central Asian and the Bhutanese are like the Far East Asian countries.

Culturally, Afghan muslims are not much different than Pakistanis. Death/burial rituals & mourning, food, marriage customs etc. are pretty similar.
