Hate crimes against muslim children in British schools

Channel 4 News last night has highlighted the terrible bullying Muslim children are suffering in schools in the UK.

A Muslim family have told of their torment over racism in the classroom.

Sanna al-Ameen claims his 14-year-old daughter Yasameen suffered racist bullying at the Manning School for Girls in Nottingham.

Mr al-Ameen, 53, who moved from Iraq to the Britain 30 years ago, gave an example of the kind of abuse his daughter endured. He said: **“A gang called her a suicide bomber and said 'your dad is Saddam Hussein. **We reported it to the school. They did nothing. I’m surprised, if this isn’t racial humiliation, I don’t know what is.”

“I want the school to do something. I want them to punish the girls who are doing this to my daughter.”

This month the al-Ameen family’s doctor recommended Yasameen was withdrawn from the school for the sake of her mental health. Yasameen, who has three younger sisters and one younger brother, explained the kind of abuse that was taking place.

She said:** "One girl spat in my face and pushed me. I hate going to school in the morning. I really hate it. **It makes me very sad because I enjoy studying so much. I don’t think the teachers have done enough.

“Why am I being picked on? Is it because I’m Muslim? Why aren’t they picking on the English girls?”

Mr al-Ameen is a former university lecturer who now runs his own book-binding business in Nottingham. He is married to Teresa, an English woman who converted to Islam.

Our survey found the number of racist incidents recorded in schools in Nottingham rose from 249 in 2003/4 to 280 in 2005/6.

A spokesman for Manning School for Girls said: "The school has worked for almost four years with the local authority, the Racial Equality Council and the police to try to resolve Mr al-Ameen’s concerns but, despite all the agencies working together, he is reluctant to accept or take part in the processes that have been put in place.

"Mr al-Ameen chose to send his eldest daughter to Manning … his correspondence with this school regarding alleged racist incidents began when his daughter was in her first term in Year 7. The head teacher at that time worked very closely with Mr al-Ameen, the Racial Equality Council and the local authority to resolve the situation, just as we have continued to do over the past two years.

"While some of the incidents involving Mr al-Ameen’s daughter have involved racist behaviour by some fellow pupils, all incidents have been thoroughly investigated and have been dealt with according to the school and local authority guidelines, including exclusion from school where appropriate.

"We also believe that many of the incidents that Mr al-Ameen alleges are racially motivated have been either accidental or without malice, and certainly not racist.

"Unfortunately, Mr al-Ameen has refused to accept that the matters have been dealt with. The school, Racial Equality Council, local authority and police are still trying to resolve his complaints but despite recently held meetings that agreed a way forward with Mr al-Ameen and the school, he still insists that the matters are not resolved and is reluctant to adhere to agreements made.

“The school Mission Statement is ‘Empowering girls to maximise their achievement in today’s multi cultural society’ and an Ofsted report published earlier this year says: ‘Incidents involving racial abuse of bullying are dealt with quickly and effectively. Students are prepared well for living harmoniously in a diverse society.’”

Steve Payne, a police inspector with Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take allegations of racist incidents very seriously. In this case we have worked closely with the school, the local authority and the Race Equality Council to resolve the issues.”

Edwina Grant, corporate director for children’s services at Nottingham City Council, said: “The council takes any report of racist incidents seriously and provides general advice and guidance to schools on how to deal with them. Individual schools are responsible for investigating reported incidents, in conjunction with the police and council if necessary. All these incidents were thoroughly investigated by Manning School and we agree that the appropriate actions were taken.”

Muslims reason "The Terrorists" killed Americans and Brits because they're occupying our land, indoctrinating our children and exploiting our resources. Muslims say Americans and Brits should wake up and smell the coffee - that they should reevaluate their foreign policy. That "people around the world dont like you because you're IMPOSING yourself onto them".

Brits and Americans say hooligans beat up Muslim kids because they're infesting their communities with their "foreign curry culture". Wake up and smell the chai - you curse at them for "invading" our muslim homeland but cry foul when they resist you "invading" theirs?

a terrible thing.
if it will be propagandized, sikh people can be really enraged.
if it is handled carefully, the context can be contained as a teen age riff raaf of verbal assualts and its reaction.
the issue is how to contend with the allied misconstrued argument that muslim children - boys are agrresive.
who gets to be in the bad light is the Muslim youth.
no one will look at why he did so - cut up a punjabi sikh youth’s hair which religiously to sikhs means a lot.
parents of the Muslim youth must be living a really bad time right now.
but what did this youth do, is open up a wide door for the next attacks to be ever more gruesome on other Muslim youth in Queens community and else where. so it is ready made target.
one cannot justify both. but it is very disappointing to see that the a muslim student and a punjabi sikh student’s fight will carry the fatal possibility of harassment onslaught on either side in a country not theirs at all, where as minorities, they are both vulnerable.
and what is done is wrong.
depends on the fairness of the legal system as well as the willingness to make peace and forgive eachother, genuinely.

This is all thanks to goverment/media propoganda, things will only get worse and "them up there" wont do **** all about it because it's exactly what they want, they want us to assimilate and loose our identity or **** off back home so we're easy to control and re-colonise. The people will do what "them up there" can't do out of polictical correctness, at heart all these parties have the same agendas as BNP.

This country was always somewhat racist, not all white people are the same of course and I'll always remember the kindness and love I got from my primary school teachers (I suppose that was their job) and a few neighbours but a lot of white people kept their distance, as children we knew kids who weren't allowed to play with us by their dads because we were Pakis. At school most white kids kept their distance from us, there was always curry jokes even though they ate more curry than us, we had "badding badding" sounds made behind their backs etc... There wasn't many fights because there was plenty of Pakis and Pakis can fight back so it kept the whites in their place.

I try and getting on with everyone and the white ppl at work tell me I'm pretty good for a Paki (whatever they mean by that) but they always diss all other Pakis, they'll diss Paki yobs but tolerate the chavy white ones, they even blame Paki boys for white girls' lack of control over their "thingys"..

Our older generation was like Turks/Arabs/Iranians they wanted to assimilate when they came to this country, today drinking is taboo in Paki-Brit society but our first generation went to the pubs regularly to fit in but the desire to be one of them wore off when they were met with hostility, White peoples attitude towards us as caused an unbridgable gap between the two communities, in retaliation Pakis formed violent gangs and now the younger generation who are not as docile as their predecessors are just as bad as the whites..

I guess after 9/11 things have gone even worse and worse and it's much worse for kids now than it was in the 9/11 days when we were at school..

I guess if we want a respectful life it's time to pack our bags and go back home (till they come to comb us there under false pretences such as WMD).

same here! but i’ve seen it…and yeah i did argue with this girl for being rude to my muslim friend got myself into trouble but hey! tleast she hasn’t been racist since!

we have all these things in school that us year 11’s organise to help racism stop in school, and we report any type of racism that is seen or if anybody complains to us we report it

it does help as they give a warning first time, second time your parents are told and third time ur excluded

but really, if i was that girl…i wouldn’t stand with it…go right to teachers and if they don’t do anything punch her back or spit in her face back…then say it was defence
