People on this forum and Pakistanis in general throw around any random, ill matched, self satisfying tags for no reason, and I don’t take them seriously at all. Nope. Simply don’t care about it. For example, the kid who calls himself liberal here and considers himself some kind of torch barrier for freedom is often the first one to shout banning of parties and rallies because they don’t represent his views. I mean most sexist dimwits here try to pass off as liberals. Ask Uncle Pasha (bless him) and he’d probably say I’m a Zionist because Imran has ex Jewish in laws. Mullah birgade will call me Kafir because I wear Western clothes and the liberal fascists will just call me a straight up terrorist because I thought Peace Talks must be given a chance before there’s an ultimate operation. So really I have no interest in taking any of these tags and labels seriously.

Unlike most Pakistanis, I also don’t get impressed by political sloganeering and take them as a word straight out of Bible and write my verdict in stone. For me policies matter and as a lefty, I can see and appreciate the welfare work PTI is doing in KPK. Some the legislative framework they are providing and working on is on par with the first ever socialist civil reconstruction Britain experienced under Clement Atlee’s Labour Government in 1945. It’d be quite foolish to ignore such ground realities just because his opponents cannot look beyond google images of him and JI leaders. While you are at it, perhaps you can educate me to what extent JI is involved every PTI led reform and to what degree everything is a joint venture. Besides foreign policy of course.

So far I have not detected any proposed radicalisation of KPK. In fact the Six Point Agenda, massive increase of Education budget, specialising of Higher Education, building and reconstruction of schools and launching of massive scale enrolling of students is commendable. Their reform and total unification of syllabus to get rid class based educational system is every leftist’s dream come true. I am secular therefore can appreciate the importance of education which is without a doubt, always a primary step towards changing the fabric of any society. I’m glad that I don’t see any burqa law in KPK instead I see coming of law that maximises employment opportunities to increase their chances of economic mobility. Depoliticisation of police, Anti Corruption and Accountability and Right to Information Act, change of recruitment processes in Civil Services to help attract qualified candidates doesn’t scream right wing leaning. While you appeared so upset over Malala’s book banning, I didn’t see you appreciating KPK’s historic anti polio drive which is now being replicated in Sindh.

Moreover, PTI’s reforms in areas like Health, Local Government, Environment, Housing is praiseworthy. While they may have lost the plot of foreign policy, they have done and are doing plenty of things right in KPK. It’s the extreme right wing fanatics who don’t want to appreciate or even acknowledge their efforts . In fact there wouldn’t be any confusion about PTI’s political leaning if some of them were actually following the local policies and reforms. I can literally jot down five hundred and fifty policies, Acts and Reforms to show PTI’s left leaning. While you have nothing other than saying oh he and JI have shared the platform to in anti drone protest, (Newsflash: NA twice passed unanimous resolutions against drones plus countless appeals to UN). You will say, JI and PTI supports Peace Talks (APC anyone?). You will now say oh Taliban nominated him as a mediator (well that’s your problem for placing so much moral authority in Taliban and taking their words on board).

Imran has always maintained his stance against American invasion of Afghanistan since day one, vehemently condemned Pakistani army and politicians for creating and nurturing these monsters for some dollars. He’s not on Saudi Arabia’s payroll nor any special Saudi Prince invites him to the Kingdom or pays him any special visit. Even his hopelessly bitter opponents aren’t exactly confused regarding his anti imperialist policies.
