KKF, i think there is a fatwa that players can break their fast on the days of competitive sports.
i think i've said enough and this is my last post in this thread.
as far as fatwa is concerned, what matters is who gave that fatwa...there are muftis in this world who recently gave fatwa that samosa is Haraam because it is shaped like a triangle which represents trinity in Christianity...the mufti probably thinks it's a western conspiracy! you be your own judge!

No offence but this (if true) is crossing the limits of sanity. It just illustrates the problem we have with some muftis.

I dont understand this constant religious judgement. First you say he should he fasting he shouldnt be doung this blah blah blah. And then you wrap it off with "its between him and allah whos the best judge". Wth haha. If thats the case then why all the comments judging him before that??

btw, i believe it's a game, a pass-time and keeping fast is FARZ! one must draw a line and decide if he wants to play a game OR fulfill his religious obligations...i am NOT judging but i do NOT think anyone can qualify to skip FARZ ROZE for a game...it's NOT a valid shara'ii excuse/reason! you may disagree to which you have the right to.
who cares about amla and his records.....what he is accomplishing is just a game, a pass-time!!!plus he has only scored 5000 runs in 6 years..lanat bhejo amla par...
what all of us shd appreciate is the record that our brother has put together.....in 3 years, almost 30,000 posts! roughly 30 posts every day! that itself is an achievement bro.....real achievement...not a pass time like amla! just curious do you fast while posting or not? must get tired after all the hard work....

BTW to my surprise his avg in ODI ( 56 ) is better than in test ( 50 ) and look at the strike rate in ODI ( 91 ) better than gayle !!!!!!!

This is true.... He is Number 1 ODI batsman and the reason he has better ODI avg doesnt mean he is a better ODI player than Test. Soon He will be Number 1 in both Inshallah.
As I see it, he has been great touch in last 2-3 years His test Avg in last 3 years is 68.xx. He only debuted ODI in 2008 but started test back in 2004. He wasnt a regular player for both until later but HIS PREVIOUS AVG IS TEST which i believe was in high 30's is the reason his avg is 50 now. Otherwise He has been doing great is TEST as well as ODI. If we only compare his avgs since he came back with improving his technique to play short balls he will have high TEST avg than ODI.

He is great batsman in both test and ODI . what i wanted to highlight that due to his style ppl may have marked him test specialist ( so called traditional batsman )
But look at his strike rate ...
I believe MOYO was of the same class and may have had similar stats if been part of a side like SA or AUS
AS some one mentioned above

No he is not typical test specialist like langer, Slatter, Blewett. He can play all formats.... Only thing disappointing abt his stats is his current T20 avg, I think he can be more consistent in T20's too.
Mohammed yousaf was solid but not as Aggressive as Amla is in ODI's. I guess aggressions come when u start opening the innings automatically. On the other hand we wud never know if Mohammed Yousaf cud have transformed as an agressive opener like M Jaywerdane or Hashim Amla.

Hashim Amla is that rare breed ..... he comes in does his job to highest possible level for his Team and goes .... u here or read about him in the news apart from his Bat performance ???

..... and that's what makes him truely great ..... very much down to earth ..... unfortunatly very few Player have this ability .... what i would give to have 2 of such greats in Pakistan batting line up :(
