yes very true..... i have read in a book...i cannot say it with proof as i am never been to states or europe...but i have read and also see on TV the jews having long beards .......

And is that a bad thing? 
If the husband runs off, why punish the wife by making her go out and work (provided in this example that she was not working before)? If she has no family members to help her, she’ll have a hard time going to work AND managing a home, she wont’ be there for the children because she’s busy working because she needs the money to take care of them. If her parents or siblings can help her ease the burden and give her money as well as emotional support, then what’s wrong with that?

Sara I think u are focusig on the wrong item, i think whathe meant was that in Pakistan the woman would be asked to tough it out (whether or not family provides support and whether she is able to support herself are different issues)
But that in the west, the woman would be able to ditch the guy and live independently or start a new life.

It seems like a lot of families who have come over from Pakistan find the lifestyle of the west really difficult and as a result there is increased distance between the family members; especially husband and wife. I know of a handful of families who have suffered because of the migration to the west.
So do y'all agree that the wild west isn't for everyone?
You know what is the real problem my friend! We want the best of both worlds when we migrate here and it is darn near impossible to achieve that.

Yes, I did...His point was to paint the east as being bad and horrible, and I think his example was jsut very weak...I just wondered, what was so wrong with family members financially supporting the abandoned wife..

You DID miss my point. Maybe you're too young to understand. The west blows the lid off of the east. What you see is just natural familial relations. Stuff that happens when a couple is put face to face.
There is nothing wrong with family members providing help. What is wrong, is when people COMPEL women to stay with a husband to save face. When people interfere in a couples life. It is wrong when a woman is told to tough it out. When she is told that no matter how much of an ass her husband is, that her brothers will give her money just to keep the "marriage" in tact. In the end, she's left in a sham of a marriage because of the pressure from her brother/mother/whoever else. She's not in it for herself.
You'd have to live in Pakistan yourself to realize how intertwined lives are there. Jealousy. Gossiping. Back talking. Your life and all the issues you have are all fair game. It's even worse in a mixed family house, with an entire khandan under one roof. It's nasty.
In the west, away from your familial pressures, you have absolutely nothing stopping you from ditching your husband. On the flip side, most couples that come to the west actually flourish without the constant hounding that comes with nosy relatives.

at this point, what is west and what is east, you tell...
things are not as straight forward as we would have them be
we see the mtv, arabic, indian, latino and others entertainment media - what do we find
same immorality,
same materialism,
difference is in practicing it – in uncovering or covering it while doing it all
same sense of degradation from which the manufacturers and corporations benefit
yet the institutions of families and marriages seem to have fallen apart as crackled vases.
& to top it all off, the mockery, the snide ness, the greed, the corrupt affluence of a few and hunger and impoverishment of the masses.
political and economic hegemonies aside,
the cruel nature of the ills of social issues, are per mutational to no end.
& the slippery slope of denaturalized as is called living by 'alternative life styles' is nothing but getting slip -rier by all means.
however, being an optimist, i cannot discount a drop in a bucket worth of good as well.
anything that shows, the good in ourselves, our intentions, as multi cultural people with ethics and respect for life, god fearing ness, is the best to have and it should be acknowledged and the evil should be fought by even a little help one can generate or gain from a good support system. that's at least ho i see it.
and ultimately, it all comes down to: what one wants to live by - ethics or imitation of some learnt self and other/s/ destructive ways to damage the world we live in and the life forms, inhabiting it.

oh sorry sweetdreamz ..... i cannot provide you with the written source but i have read it long ago in daily Nawa-i-waqt and recently on Peace TV by Dr.Zakir Naik on the issue of western media and islam......
regarding 7 out of 10..its not necessary that only the house and blood relations are responsible for taht actually the school s and colleges are the most places where these girls are treated like that ...also forcibly and also willingly ...
