i been there..... they called me lo wai or something...
meaning foreign devil... but i guess they were not serious... its just a name..
from my experience i found people are usually rude over there...
depends on the social level of the people, an avg joe on the street will not know, but professionals there were very warm.
to give you an idea of people's personal level of concern, when the 2005 earthquake happened, I reached out to some of my colleagues in China to help locate heavy duty tents. The guys left work to go talk to different suppliers in teh city and to make arrangements to have them shipped to Pakistan. It was a lot more than i expected as I was just looking for a few numbers or email addresses which I could then follow up with myself.
^ X2 stop posting your accounts of heroism. I am not interested. Why are u trying to impress me. I will not share my bag of popcorn with you. so shoooo...shoo... go away
gammay the account is about the feelings that chinese people have for Pakistan. A number fo people would not get up, take a half day off and try to do this if they did not really care. simple as that.
I was just wondering. I have no expectations of them, nor am I going, just a thought that popped into my mind, and given GS has many "traveller" type folk....I thought i'd ask.
I would imagine just eating out would be a difficult job if one is halal/zabeeha conscious. Probably everything is fried in lard or made using it to keep the cost low.
been to Shanghai a few years back. I don't need to write anything becasue I share almost the same views and opinions as the rest of the guppies around here.
Been in Shanghai and Gunagzhou many times.
There are not many people who speak English. You will find these people in international hotels and in big companies. Even if they manage to speak the english they learned in university it is hard to understand them.
I have never spoken to somebody who referred to the good bilateral relations of China and Pakistan.
Be prepared whenever you visit China. It is difficult to get good food outside the big 5star hotels.
