“Wherever ye are, death will
find you out, even if ye are in towers built
up strong and high!” If some good befalls
them, they say, “This is from God”; but if
evil, they say, “This is from thee” (O
Prophet). Say: “All things are from God.”
But what hath come to these people, that they
fail to understand a single fact?

If I am not wrong, this movie broke all records of box office, by grossing $93.5 million in the first three days. Much more than $70m for “The Lost World - Jurrasic Park”. They expect the movie to cross $100 mil mark in the first four days, another record, and will beat all posssible records in its initial run. After that the DVD and video rentals will kick in for few a long time. The toys and other accessories will also rake in many millions. All in all, a very sweet deal for Rowling and the others.
The second movie is already underway. There are talks of H Potter taking on the Star Wars series, which has so far taken in $7 billion, in movie revenues, books and other accessories.
I saw the H Potter movie on Saturday. Frankly speaking, its a nice movie but has been edited rather badly. Many scenes end abrubptly. In many cases, you would have been completely lost unless you have read the book. For example, very early on, in one scene, Harry’s family is living in their home and in the next scene they are in a cave. No explanation was provided in the movie. Not once in the movie, did they ever provide the name of Harry’s owl.
These are just two examples. But, ofcourse, they can’t explain everything in 2.5 hours. The book is a must to completely enjoy the Potter mania and to understand exactly what is going on.
I have no doubts that the movie will do very well on the box office. But to be honest, they will do much better by also making it into TV serials. One book should be spread in to 5-10 episodes, if not more, to do it justice.
ps. Is the H Potter movie already released on video in Pakistan? Anyone knows?

waisay all in all they did a good job I think.

less hope harry potti doesn’t serialise into star trek proprtions, else we’ll have bye-bye “trekkies” and hey-hey “potti’s”, with our very own hinna leadin the nutty lot!
good film btw, those who read the books will definitely enjoy it more. and hey, that wrap-around-neck shawl thingie whatever’s even hit big-name stores, and don’t look too bad actually.
Wonder why ‘where’s frikkin waldo’ couldn’t popularise it to this extent?
what wrap around the neck thingie are you talking about…listens up really closely???

I've been thinking about reading the books.....but am a little hesitant....I don't know what the vocabulary is like and if it's too easy then I fear that I will lose interest.
Any comments from those that have read the books? Is it just too fun to worry about the vocab?
I'm half way through Kane and Abel....so perhaps I can take a break and read the Potter stuff.
