haha :) Mostar bahi , i can even get Haji mehfooz sheermaal here .

Re: Haray mash ki daal saag

I tried this today as well with some additions. I cooked the daal+spinach with some garlic and sliced onions. And for the bighar i used zeera, dry red mirchi, grated ginger and minced garlic. I thought it tasted a bit like saag. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Btw, Mostar, this daal is readily avalible in the USA in desi grocery stores.

Re: Haray mash ki daal saag

I think a bighar with onions would be a good idea....did you add the onions to the daal while cooking it or as a bighar?

Re: Haray mash ki daal saag

Readily means cooked?

Re: Haray mash ki daal saag

Angel eyes, i used onions for both cooking the daal and in the bighar. In my family we do this for all the daals. Adding the ginger to the bighar is a new idea for me that i learned from my MIL and i think it gives the bighar a totally different, awesome flavor.

Mostar, what i meant was that this daal is easily availible in the US. I am guessing since its not availible in Pak, it comes from India. Although it surprises me how both countries being so close together dont produce the same stuff ( i knwo mostly they do). My husband was telling me cashew nuts arent avaible in Pak but they are in India. I was pretty amazed at that.
