well, my parents know that I have few male friends that I usually hang around during our breaks in Univerisity and my parents know them as well. As long as I stay in my limits, or kabi shikayat ka mauqa na doon, to ALL IZ WELL!

but "you and her" or "you and him" alone then its not acceptable.
my parents dont like it and i myself dont really feel comfy. (i had a good friendship with someone and wanted to take out for a dinner..just us 2...so asked my parents and they were like "baita aur doston ko bhi le jao, group main chale jao..is tarah se akele munasib nahi hai" and i agreed with their reason.
if its a uni/college cafe etc then for me its fine to sit alone with someone.

i had none. i meant no guy friends in uni and in HS. not only i ever felt the need but i was scared that if they get serious about me Tu phir kia hoga. i was already not interested in institutional education but i dont want to leave the opportunity of getting first hand experiences with so many creative experiences.

I hang out with my male friends on many occasions. It's perfectly acceptable.
