if we really want to do teh chicken and egg thing, it was an idiotic plan cooked up by US, Pakistan, Saudis etc back during the soviet attack on afghanistan era. Remember Rambo and even bond movies where the mujahideen are good guys basically? I can dig up old time and newsweek magazines on that subject too.
Now US kinda pulled out and left that festering problem in the region, a tribal society with all these mercenary groups fighting for power, drugs, and guns coming into the country and Pakistan supported one of the factions.
btw its the same taleban that visited texas and were entertained by you know who just a few short years before this whole mess. So its not like they were personna non gratas for US then.
Now on one hand you say that it is much easier than said to close borders, sure..it is. just as hard it is to be in control of territory. I mean even US had to make deals with notorious druglords, many of them taleban with just a diff mask, and many of them taleban sympathizers who were funneling proceeds from their poppy plants to taleban. whether its Pakistan's failure in controllign extremists in FATA or US failure ot control militants in Iraq, its not an easy task when the perps are going to hide among civilians and will be mild mannered reporters by day and super-terrorists by night time.
pointing fingers is not going to do jack. better planning is needed on all sides. As far as efforts go 700 plus Pakistani soldiers did not die playing tiddly winks in that area.

I would humbly request the US forces to take care of the terrorist gang of Urdu speaking MQM thugs, whilst they are at it..
nyah, urdu speaking MQM thugs are ghundas of a lower level content at holding one city as their prized possession.
We know which groups have visions of khilafah and/or islamic emirate even though their useless antiquated and barbaric tribal customs indicate that they did not learn jack from islam.
so MQM is a problem for pakistan, or more appropriately it is a problem limited to Karachi but a problem.
taleban types on the other hand are a problem for US, and frankly the rest of the civilized world, so the chances of MQM getting a slap on teh wrist anytime before the taleban are hunted down like pigs, are pretty slim.
although with that moron altaf under a microscope in UK now, hopefully MQM would straighten itself out. People say that just by altaf going things wont change, but I point them in the direction of other idiots like GM ayed, ghaffar khana nd wali khan, after they kicked teh bucket their parties became little weiner dogs..i.e. all bark and no bite, same will be the case with MQM.

If anything US and UK (even Canada) should be learning some lessons from MQM on how to deal with beardos. Even when mullahs were with full support of army and ISI, we gave these terrorists a lesson they have yet to forget. One reason for why mullahs jump from their charpais when they hearthe initials MQM.
