A suicide bomber blew himself up Tuesday night in a
cafe on Emek Refaim St. in Jerusalem, injuring at
least 40 people. Magen David Adom reported that
several people were killed in the blast.
The attack took place at 11:20
P.M. in Cafe Hillel, which is
one of many restaurants and
coffee shops along Emek Refaim.
Ambulances are at the scene and
are evacuating the injured.
The injured are being taken to
three hospitals in the capital
Hadassah, Bikur Holim and
Sha’arei Zedek.
Police were on high alert in the capital
throughout the day after security forces
received warnings of a possible attack.
The blast comes only hours after seven people
were killed in a suicide bomb attack at a
busstop outside the Tzrifin army base near
Rishon Letzion.
CNN was covering a recent poll of Israelis which suggested that a significant percentage of them don't agree with Sharon's "Take out the Hamaas" airstrikes approach.
The reason is not that the Israelis think that these strikes are unjustified or damage the peace process or that it kills the innocent people. None of the sort. The reason Israelis are against these strikes is because they fear it invites more Hamas attacks on Israelis.
Israel is like that bully who only understands one language... fear. And perhaps, that is why Hamas called off the (so-called) cease-fire. As long as Sharon is at the helm, I don't see any peace process making any headway in the region.
Good, that you have quoted it as "Hams Strikes Back", so in essence it was just a retaliatory strike and nothing else. Too, bad that civilians get killed, but how else can you deal the largest terrorist entity on earth.

Who'dathunkit? If you attack, no matter how deserving of death the target is, it lets the other side say "you started it, we're just retaliating". Israel needs to better learn passive action.

Not at all! They have to be dealt with. Just not so openly. This war is as much PR driven as it is strategic. Deny the opponent the PR victories and your strategic wins will much more meaningful.

Palestinians in Gaza Strip are handing out candies to celebrate the suicide bombings, Dancing in the street and whatnot, quite a party.

The Israeli people elected a murderous war criminal over and over again to lead them - that is more than being joyous at the mass killings of Palestinian's.

And with Hamas around you do?

These are all reactionary policies. Being much more militarily stronger than Palestinian Authority or Hamas, a larger responsibility lies on the shoulders of Israeli government. Too bad, they are still bent upon behaving as school bully who just won't quit. What the region needs is a far-sighted statesman in Israel like Rabin, who can see farther than Hamas and can engage the Palestinians in a peace deal to secure the future generations. One who can look beyond day to day bombings and suicide attacks and keep his focus on the larger picture.
Jokers like Sharon, who think the only way out of this is to bomb Palestinians out of oblivion have been constantly proven wrong for the past two years and will continue to escalate the problem. Sharon just makes Israel more and more insecure. He has no long-term plan.

We all know responsibility is on all sides (some will admit it, some won't), so let's not be so hasty to lay the mountain of blame on Israel's elected leaders. It can be easily argued that the electorate favored tough guy Sharon because of increased Palestinian violence. UTD is right, the Palestinians have had a murdering terrorist as their leader for decades, where is their responsibility to elect a leader who can see farther than Hamas and can engage Isreael in a peace deal to secure the future generations? One who can look beyond the day to day targeted killings of Hamas leaders and keep his focus on the larger picture.
Someone please be sure to post the Jewish candy parties after the next Palestinian to be killed.
Have you guys ever noticed that when ever there is a suicide bombing incident each newspaper puts it in its headlines but when Israeli's roll their tanks into Palestinian areas, literally massacring people, the news goes unnoticied. Even papers like Jang & Dawn has the event in its headlines. Do papers get a commision or something for publishing them in their headlines??

How long has Arafat ruled for?
No real point to these posts.....

And your posts have any point? What is the sense of posting every bombing. We already know what is going to happen. Israel will go in and kill some more innocent Palestinians and try to grab some more land. Hamas and others will strike back again. Don't tell me how bad the Israelis have it. They wanted this and they are getting it. It is very hard to wipe out a people. The Israelis should know. After all there are still Jews in this world. Time for them to give up this idea that they can have all of Palestine. They are not winning. It is obvious.
