Has anyone cooked haleem in a slow cooker before? I want to try it as you just put all the ingredients and just leave it and its ready by the time you come home…HOWEVER a few recipes that I’ve tried in slow cooker where I left it all day didn’t come out good, so I’m scared to make haleem as well.
Has anyone made haleem in a slow cooker and how did it turn out? Recipe?
Haleem in a slow-cooker has been on my list for a long time. Done with Nihari and paya. Turned out well. Another one I want to try is Hyderabadi kacche gosht ki Biryani. Have to figure out the sealing part.
My wife saw it one of her friend make haleem this way so she tried it once and she is hooked now. Haleem turns out to be so soft that you do not have to do lot of ghotafying. It is as good as ghotafying for whole night.
I've been wanting to cook haleem the authentic way (Not that I have ever cooked it in a non authentic way before but) because I prefer to know and practice the authentic way of cooking any food especially the specialities like haleem, nihari, paaye, palao, Sindhi biryani, etc. I heard that haleem is the easiest to cook than nihari/paaye.
I have a recipe since last year which I have been thinking of trying but still have not. Will do now as winter is almost over now. Will share it if mine turns out good.
Haleem from Shan Shahi Haleem Mix get ready to serve from scratch in 4 hours (or under) and tastes REALLY good. No need to cook overnight or 8/10 hours. I use blender for half of the mixture and ghotofy rest. It gives it the perfect texture with just 20-30 min of ghota.
PS: Shan has 2 haleem variety. Shahi Haleem and Jhat-pat haleem. Dont bother trying jhat-pat haleem unless you are dying to have it in 1 hour.

jhat pat one is not bad if you make it with boneless chicken
^ neither is the regular shan one with boneless chicken. i always make haleem using boneless chicken breast and the regular shan packet. i do tend to add more daal and grains though.
