Halal-Haram

when i eating Chocolate Chip Cookie, my sister just read the back of the box for ingredients. it contains natural vanilla extract :bummer:. vanilla is usually put for flavour, other it has nothing to do with the actual making of the cookies (why do they put it…arghhh…i know i know otherwise it would spell like egg)

I googled it the following site and it says vanilla extract is haram: Login - Radarr

but it also says

"ISLAMIC SCHOLARS’ VIEW ON THIS TOPIC:

Some Islamic Scholars considered a non Halal food product if it is made with flavor containing alcohol as a solvent. But the others considered it Halal because they said the small or large quantity of the product does not intoxicate a person. Please consult your Sheik or Imam on this topic ".

i know cookies in general really bad for the health, but i dont eat like two or three in a week.

I think i have no choice left then to throw it away, cuz by the time i will find scholar they will be moist and all.

Re: Halal-Haram

ab cookie bhee kahana choR dain kiya ..:smack:

Re: Halal-Haram

People should worry about bigger things, like do they fulfil the 5 basic tenets of Islam, rather than focusing on minute details such as an ingredient that probably makes up 0.01% of a whole product.

someone once asked me if it is halal chocolate that I was eating...I was like huhn.
Or some people won't go to the CPK coz they bake bacon pizza in the same oven.
I mean , I respect the religious sentiments of other people but thats plain Loco.

Wait, does that mean that if I can consume 20 tons of food in my whole life then its ok if I add only 0.2 tons of alcohol to that list ..:hmmm:

yeahhhh .. maroush zindabad :yahoo:

maroush, what if the person do fulfil the 5 basic tenets of Islam.

i strongly belief theres need to be more research or may be in my case awareness required on the quantity of any ingredient used. I am sure we all want to eat healthy Halal food.

Re: Halal-Haram

say wha?

alcohol (different types) is one of the main solvents used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Should we stop taking medication as well?

Re: Halal-Haram

and what about me .. people tell me ke meri aankhon me nasha hai ..should I go blind? :(

abay nasha naheen, nashta.. you rubbed your eyes after eating the fried anda..
go wash your face you mailay desi

Re: Halal-Haram

shudda given the food to a homeless person or fed to the animals instead of wasting it and incurring perhaps more gunah than the accidental-maybe-minute-quantities-of-alcohol. but hey, who am i to say anything.

Re: Halal-Haram

omg...you can buy a large bottle of vanilla extract, slug it down and not have the slightest effect because the amount of alcohol is so minute. Also, heat destroys the alcohol, it cooks off.

If its still a problem, hey man, I will eat the cookies. All of em.

nasheeli ankhein is such a feminine theeng .. bootiphool on ladies… gay on men :snooty:

must be natasha .. not nashta

Nikii baaji .. oh Niki baaji...

batasha?

Re: Halal-Haram

Read all packaging beforehand thoroughly.

Agree with Khumar. Wasting food is just as bad, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

must be her sister

exactly, instead of throwing away a bottle of Scotch, give it to a homeless person.

Why do i even bother …:smack:

In that case, avoid it if you’re unsure as to whether it’s halal or haram.

:k:

Re: Halal-Haram

If you find out it's corn based, then it's permissible to consume. Just call them up I guess.
