Halal-0-ween!

Come to our Halal-ween Night program: an Islamic alternative to the
haramness of halloween!

Wanna stay away from all the fitnah and evils of this year’s
Halloween celebrations? Wanna make sure that your kids don’t go
trick-or-treating with their non-Muslim friends in your neighborhood
or feel like they’re being left out when trick-or-treaters come to
your door? Wanna keep the Islamic identity of your kids alive and
protect them from such secular, haram and fitnatic celebrations such
as these? Then look no further…

Here is our Islamic alternative to Halloween for our Austin Muslims
kids (May Allah protect our youth and our future!)

On Friday, October 31st (Halloween night) from 7 PM (after iftar)
all Muslim kids, of all ages in Austin are invited to spend their
time in the House of Allah at the masjid on north Lamar for an
evening of FREE pizzas, drinks, games, sports and halaqaas! Families
and parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

Friday being a weekend, we are inviting anyone (parents & kids) to
stay over for a night of qiam-il-layl & halaqaas after an evening
packed with plenty of games, arts & crafts, sports, quizzes, a
trivia treasure hunt and FREE pizzas & drinks for everyone there in
the school building on site (Did we mention FREE PIZZAS & DRINKS?).
This event is FREE to everyone and all are encouraged to attend!

Volunteers & chaperones are always welcome & needed!
Come help us shape the future of this Ummah! Be a pro-active Muslim,
not a reactive one!

We hope to see y’all there, insha-Allah!

Jazakumallahu khairan,
Was-salaamu alaikum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuhu

I see nothing Haraam about how Halloween is celebrated today by children.

Last time I checked no child was conjuring up evil demons from the crypt.

So they run around in costumes and collect candy...its really all abou the candy...and get spooked out by ghost stories. What's so fitnati abou that?

I've sat in religious discussion groups sharing jinn stories...now if I ever got spooked, it was there.

halloween is a cultural celebration. i dont see why its any more unislamic than basant.

all the same, free pizza..mmmm....

I think that with all the bad stuff going on in this world the children should enjoy every single holiday with the same spirit (no pun intended). I'm going to let daughter enjoy Christmas as much as Eid, Kwanza as much as Baqra Eid, and Diwali as much as Shabe Baraat.

good for you. are you also offering free pizza, and if so, are you in the LA area?

What's pizza got to do with anything? And no, I'm in NY.

sigh.

aur ek to yeh 'families and parents' walay loge! baqi logon ka kia qusoor hay?

i dont see anything wrong with halloween. its a fun day for kids or adults to dress up and get free candies or enjoy the evening with friends. whats so unislamic about that?

Yeah it's crazy! My mom is really religous but she never had any problem with Halloween.. she even made our costumes every year.

I just thought this was funny! I mean come on!?

Hey Ravage you're in LA? where !?
I'm in North Hollywood :)

I don't find anything wrong with Halloween either. I actually enjoy the season very much. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the trick or treat part.

USC!

relevant i guess…

Moscow bans Halloween

Moscow city authorities have told children not to celebrate Halloween because it is psychologically damaging and not in line with educational aims… (cont’d)

Halloween: Ain't nothing wrong with some kids dressing up as ghouls, ghosts, goblins etc. and going trick o treating. Infact I still dress up( not for trick or treating.. for my school party) and I love it when those kids come to the door for candies.

wait lemme getthis straight

so on halloween we dotn go out getting candy or eating candy or anything..because we are celebrating a pagan ritual?

but we can have sports, pizza, and sodas.

I mean if you are not goign to particpate..dont do anything. coming up with another alternative seems like a diff way of celebrating halloween..i.e. every halloween we have sodas, and pizza and sports..

I am kinda confused here..

It’s dumb..
in a way theyre celebrating halloween in the mosque :hoonh:

come on fraudz, are you comparing food, drink and physical activity, with a pagan festival. I probably too had a pizza, that night does'nt mean I'm celebrating hallows eve.

I have three young children (all under 6 yrs) and when they spoke of halloween, I explained it was not correct to follow such festivals, why I do that because today I let them participate in such, tommorrow they're more likely to deviate further away from islam. similarly I tell them the tooth fairy is just a myth, father xmas, the easter bunny, ghosts and spirits of dead people do'nt exist, etc etc.

And killing the growth of your kid's imagination along the way. Let them dream!!

^^ Nothing like Playboy to spice up their imagination and get the dreams rolling…

I would not advice it though…:nono4:
