halaal bread ?

I eat this bread sometimes, it tastes salty and at the top there are some different brands of seeds spreaded, so one day I examine those seeds closely and I notice these very small brown seeds which I cannot really identify myself, well it doesn’t actually looks like seed and its more softer and the colour is brown, I think it might be dried/steamed pork meat or some other meat :hoonh: but I am not sure, so before I go ask the backery, I need to know if you if they could use pork meat for normal breads ?

U r sure they are not sesame seeds?

or garlic?

Why not ask at the bakery?

As long as you read the kalma whilst slicing it you'll be okay.

Saadia, since you are being doubdful about the seeds or whatever is there in that bread.. its best you go and ask the bakery. You could ask just them about the seeds...

It is said that, once you have a doubt about something, meaning, about it being Haraam or Halaal, then you have to leave it.. Until you make sure it is Halaal...

Saadia, ask the bakery. Period. Once I ate pork rinds thinking they were fried chips or something. I was so disgusted afterwards, I threw up as soon as I reached the nearest bathroom.

Thanks everyone, I guess asking the bakery is be best option for me at the moment.

Gizzy, I've stopped eating the bread, after I noticed it.

Sweetpie, I understand your dilemma, I once eat pork fat thinking it was butter, it was certainly digusting too.

i hope its not pork in your case saadia :(

do let us knwo what was that....so we can be carefull when buyin bread..

SaadiaB, they certainly use Mono and Diglycerides, which are sometimes based out of animal meat. Since, the meat is not hala, the bread also isn’t. You should specifically check with the bakery.

it could also be onion.

Assalam O Alaikum

Some times oats and other grains are topped on the bread dough before baking to hide dark brown color of the crust and also for visual appeal. Some grains obsorb moisture during baking coming out of the dough and become soggy inside. But no pork or any meat by products were applied on the top.

You have to investigate with the bakery about what emulsifires such as Mono & Diglycerides or dough conditioners he is using in the formula. Without this information the bread can not be considered Halal.

can we give the bread some benefit of doubt? :yummy:

Re: halaal bread ?

have u found out what it was or ur still confused???

ive had bread with pork in it.. had sandwiches with ham in it like thin salamis.. umm yea i dint know it was haram,, na jk, i dint know it was pork..i thought it was tomoto slices(dint have a taste), when i found out .. i just stopped buying from that bakery...
just ask to be sure.

Saadia, easiest way is to just ask what is on the bread first. and even if you have ordered it and then you see it and dont want it because of that, most businesses will take it back.

:hehe: ur funny, a person i know say a similar thing, goes to mcdonalds, has the chicken burger & say as long as i read the kalma everything is ok:hehe:

i just had muller yogurt(vnilla flavour) for lunch…fat free ,after i had finished it my friend opens up hers & reads the ingredients & there was gelatine in it:( she threw hers away…but mine was in my tummy:( oh well,i didnt know & i thought she’d checked the ingredients before hand.

All those who advised SaadiaB to ask the bakery, please raise your hands. On second thoughts, please don't. There is enough repetition already in this thread.

That's right Faisal, there is enough repetition already in this thread.

^ I'd agree with you, but I already said so a little while back. No point repeating it, is there?
