instead of blindly following something hoping for a great afterlife (or being scared of a horrible one).... just live this life to the max! taking off that rag !!
I didn't find the above post offensive (everyone has the right to express their views afterall), until i read the last sentence/phrase ... "taking off that rag!!"
that really did it for me...
calling it a "rag" in your reply was not the most classy thing to do ...
that just tells me you might be one of those people who look down upon hijabi girls (and think of them as lowly creatures wearing rags on their heads, probably having no brains, no skills, knowledge or education, and no happiness in their lives) ... and that's just plain discrimination and jahil pann, even though on a day to day basis you may think of your self as a very liberal, open minded, progressive and enlightened/modern individual...
You should wear Hijab when you are ready to embrace it from the heart. If you do it because your parents/spouse insist on it, you'll dislike having it on. Do it for yourself, Do it for the right cause, and most importantly do it when you understand why you are doing it. Once you realize it and adopt it from the depth of your heart, you won't need reasons to feel good about it. Having it on will be an honor enough for you and those who appreciate seeing you in it.
It's all about humility, proper cover, and display of modesty in a surrounding that advocates extreme materialism and show of skin to be appreciated.
Bravo to those who go out of their way to follow Islam and all that is contained within it.

Ya live your life to the max and when you unfortunately die just find a way to get yourself born again so you can come back and live some more! Or simplify matters futher and just dont die. Afterall you are the master of your own life right, surely you must be able to find a way to either live forever or come back again and again as much as you wish. Genius
My advise to anyone thinking of wearing the hijab -say Bismillah and go for it. If your intentions are sincere and you are doing this to make Allah happy, then you will blessing in it. Anytime you do something to come closer to Allah, even if it seems difficult at first, the rewards will outnumber any difficulty and it will always always be worth it
I have these thoughts in my head that I will be less likely to get a job if I wear a hijab as I live in UK.

Maybe you will be less likely to get a job if the employer is racist and only cares about what you look like. If he/she cares about your education, work experience, skills, talents, personality etc, then why should what you are wearing make any difference? Dont be scared of this, I know tons and tons of girls who wear hijab and work in all kinds of professional fields, even as managers in their companies. Have confidence and a positive attitude and never feel that you are less than anyone else or cant do the job as good as anyone else
thanks everyone for your replies. It has really helped me think alot about the hajib..I know I need to be alot stronger and allah is the only one that can help me...I will prayerxxx
