I was surprised the first time I attended an arabic all girl party as well. I think thats mostly due to our desi culture, where we just dont expose that much skin, geez even short sleeves are “besharmi” for some people! .. However, I think each to his own. Personally I wouldnt dress like that, hijab or no hijab, only girls or mix. But I think in arabic culture dressing like this is seen as fashionable and they really do put a lot of pressure on each other to dress this way .. at least thats what I have seen among arabs here

Arabs are pretty sensual and exuberant creatures, they have healthy appetite for glitz and glamour. You can read the stories of Harem life from thousands of years ago and trust me you won’t find much difference - except fashion- between the Arab ‘private’ parties of today and then.
