Hair Styles

I have been sitting online for like 2 hours now looking for a nice haircut that I can show the hairdresser.

Okay. I have hair that is straight at the top and then falls into curls at the very bottom.

Because it curls up at the bottom, any time I get a haircut, it ends up looking shorter than what the haircutter intended it.

I have, I guess what is called “flyaways”. Like wisps of hair that, due to hair breaking during brushing, that fly away at the very front of my hairline - near the face.

Its texture - I am guessing its thick. Its also very volumous. Naturally. I need a haircut that doesn’t make my hair more volumous.

I don’t know what my face shape is…I am thinking either oval or round. Probably a little more on the oval side, but I’ve been eating lots of christmas cookies…so now its round? Dunno.

I am dying to have a short hair cut with highlights - some layering. I would love to have bangs. I wish I could upload pics really easily but looks like I’ll have to go thru Gizzy and for that I wont bother.

Should I try to get my hair “thinned”? I hear that’s dangerous for the hair. What about getting it razored? My friend once got a “razor” cut which looked so awesome, except that from what I’ve been reading “razoring” is a technique of cutting hair rather than a particular style? Does it decrease volume?

I used to have layers - and it made my hair look incredibly awesome. But I don’t wanna repeat the cut, since it used to be my high school look.

I just want something a bit more slick. Not the cutesy look. Professional kind of look, that has some sophistication, and does not make my hair look like either a bird’s nest or totally limp.

Also, if you can recommend any products, it would be helpful.

Re: Hair Styles

Razor? 2pid…
There is special scissor, which can be used to thin your hairs; it has saw teeth with gaps, and when it is used on ‘tind’ it cuts hairs with some gaps, its does not pull btw, you can use it on thick area of head :-)

Re: Hair Styles

At the moment I have had my hair razored. It is very volumous from the top and then thinns at the bottom. my hair is below shoulder lenght now. it DOES decrease volume, but in a fashion that you choose, it can be done as part of a style or to make the hair thinner all over. Let your hair do what it does best - structured hair isnt all that anyway - its especially not fashionable.

My hair is also a khoti, it is in HUGE ass curls that dont appear intil the hair is at least back lenght - meaning that all interim layers make it look as though there is no real meathod to my folicle madness. But I dont care, it will blow dry any shape I want. (I find this with most hair) - and if really in need one can just straighten.

Re: Hair Styles

That's the thing though - straightening takes a long time to do...and even though it takes less time the more you practice doing it, I frankly don't want to spend more than 3 minutes on my hair in the morning!

Also I was thinking of highlights, but those take a lot to manage don't they? Like you have to redo them after so much time, and then you have to buy special products for color-treated hair, no? Urgh, they look so good, but I just don't want anything that is hard to maintain.

Re: Hair Styles

highlights do take a lot of time to manage and yes, if you don't use the proper products (i.e. for colour treated hair, etc.) then they can fade and look horrible.....especially if the base is reddish in tone.

straightening is not something that you need to do everyday.....usually if you use a good salon-quality flat iron (approx. $150+ when bought from a beauty supply store) then you can go for three days without re-shampooing. And yes, that means three minutes, or less, every morning.

in the event that that is still too much to do, the tousled and messed up look is in. Get the razor cut done and use a little mousse to style. easy as 1-2-3!

Re: Hair Styles

ReallY ? I hav highlights and i dont find it a problem.. then again it’s only been a few weeks, so i mite get all pissy abt it later on when half my head is blacka nd the other half blonde.. :halo:

Re: Hair Styles

So hiccup what kind of layers would I need if I was to get a razor cut? I mean layers such that it would work against volumizing my hair.

Re: Hair Styles

Here are some styles that are pretty low maintenance. Use Frizzease products for the flyaway sections. Then use a straightening iron to get it straighter.

Re: Hair Styles

Cute Sarah. I like the layering. Are there highlights? Are you sitting next to a grizzly bear?

Re: Hair Styles

Thanks  This was taken in May… I got a new haircut and highlights now but I don’t have pix of that haircut.. No, that’s one of my winter coats hanging there ( i dunno why i had my winter coats hanging in May :smack: )

My hair

Re: Hair Styles

Awww Maya’s cute  and you look great :k:

Did you color ur hair? You look different :konfused: than before. Are those contacts ?

Re: Hair Styles

No, those are my eyes. I did color my hair in June and I want to darken it now. I also think about cutting my hair a few inches shorter and adding more layers.

Re: Hair Styles

It looks pretty short already! The brown suits you , I think even lighter would suit you as well.

Re: Hair Styles

I have fairly short hair which is extremely thick and wavy. I straighten it regularly ... I want a new hair style too. I have an appointment with my hair stylist this Friday. I still have no idea what I will get done. :(

I guess below is the razor cut?

I don’t know if something like this will work with hair that is naturally thick, and hair that is naturally wavy. I’d be using a str8ner every single day :frowning:
