How many women hav a problem with hair straightening…i mean to get ur hair to b actually DEAD straight… it really annoyz me tht despite using certain productz and salon straigteners my hair doesnt b silky smooth dead straight…kinda looks dry’ish n damaged! n i hate it !
My hair is dyed n is dry n looks kinda damaged so permanent straightening wasnt recommended until the dye has completely grown out..which will take many monthz..my hair dont grow very quickly either, so tht isnt an option right now either
anyone else face similar problemz…or if u hav really straight hair ..wat products do u use n wat tipz do u hav to get hair to be so straight…n how often do u straighten ur hair…i do mine occasionally recently i hav started straightening em more but i’ve ended up with split endz n dry n brittle looking hair
Awww! I think it depends on the quality of your hair e.g how soft, coarse, thick, etc. I also like the straightened look but would never go for a complete straight hair permanent look as i prefer my natural front straight bottom wavy hairs :D. Why must you get your hair straightened? do you have curly hairs? there is so much that can be done with curly hairs too. I have a frnd who had those natural tight curls and than she got them straightened out and though she look good with it too but after a while we all got bored of her in that look and thought she looked much better with her natural look. So i think go for your natural look but ya ofcourse you will have to know how to manage them too.
If you want only straight hairs than i am sure a good hair salon will be able to help you out though ofcourse how straight or how natural they look will depend alot on your natural hair too...for example for my hair it takes like 15-20 mins to get them properly straightened but for some hair types it takes half an hour or more...but i would say its not good for hair so if you can manage without it than great.
My hair is ummm wavy/frizzy, not like really frizzy out of control type, but it is frizzy. I usually wear hijaab so itz no big deal, but occasionaly wen i do want it straightened i prefer my hair to b perfectly straight
also i hav a problem with blow-drying my hair, i dnt kno how to carry tht out properly, wen i do blow-dry my hair it actually goes even frizzier :CareBear: so i avoid it lol
Salon recommended getting the hair conditioned every month as an alternative to permanent hair straightening…not too sure abt tht tho’ considering the fact i wear hijaab.
wen u straighten ur hair do use products ..and which ones ? i can get my hair straightened in abt half hour but itz not as straight as i wud like it to be
see wavy is good...for frizz you cant do some treament na like the person recommended to you. Frizz is a problem and when you solve it you will be able to manage your hair. And when you feel like getting them straightened you can do so like once a month...that way you can have both looks.
As for me, i cant blow dry or straightened my hair even though i have the required tools for them :P. I havent gotten my hair straightened for like 4- 5 months now...but when i want to i go 2 a salon and they usually dont need 2 use anything except the straightener...only when they get too straight n silky that they get out of my control or on my eyes than i ask them 2 fix them with a spray but nothing more.
my hair is not stick straight (a little wavy from the bottom), but i blow dry it straight. it's very rare for me to use a hair straightener, because it always ends up damaging the hair. i use chi straightening blow dryer, and halo shampoo and conditioner, and finish it all off with chi silk infusion.
i havent heard of tht brand “chi” …i use GHD straighteners …very gud but yeh like any other hot ironz they end up damaging the hair, leave u with dry, brittle hair n split endz :hinna: I have tried various serumz aswell, heat protectors etc but still not gettin the results i want.
chi is a great brand for straight hair. my stylist does chi permanent straightening also, and she is the one who recommended it to me. u should look into it and see if using their shampoo or thermal spray makes any difference.
hey Missy I just got out of this problem the basic problem of ur hair is that they r dyed and after dying or streaking hairs become very dryyyyyy when i had streaks my hair looked the same way after streaking ias u said....2nd problem could be ur Straightner get a good one!

stylobabe thnx u make it sound soo easy lol...seems like a tremendous task doing all tht lol i think i need to start oiling my hair ..sumthing which i dont do ..sumone reccommended olive oil, itz just a matter of going out n buying it now! i usually use heat protection and a serum or straightening balm on my hair, then i straighten them. But i think the problem is the condition of my hair ...i havent tried the hot oils treatment...will look into tht too!
And i do have a set of gud hair straighteners, i use the salon straighteners, The GHD'z Mk4. They do a gud job but i guess the texture of my hair doesnt give me the results i want.
Don't be so aggressive in dyeing your hair. Stay within a shade or two of your normal hair color. I've noticed that going very light or getting blond highlights ravages desi hair. I can't stand looking at dry, crunchy hair on girls, but hey, it's got streaks :p
If I were you, I'd dye my hair back to my natural color, and use a conditioner every time I wash my hair (no more than 2 or 3 times a week). Lay off the hair sprays for now. And use a heavy conditioner or oil treatment at least once a week.
Be very gentle in brushing it or combing it. And let it air dry as much as possible. My favorite straighteining iron is Chi (ceramic). To get really straight hair, only straighten a tiny portion of hair at a time. At the salon, the stylist barely grabs a 1/2" of hair. Don't grab a whole ponytail's worth and run the iron over it--won't do you any good.
I have my hair permanently straightened, and it definitely weakens your hair, but if you take care of it, it's worth it completely. The only thing I do is dye it once every three or four months to one shade lighter. Single process, NO highlights. Highlights can turn out dry and odd after you do the permanent straightening.
I've dyed it bak to black couple of dayz ago n planning on keeping it tht way lol i dont dye my hair often maximum 2-3 times a yr n i only started doing tht since last yr, more than actually dying my hair i think the straightener is actually damaging my hair...howeva wen straightened the hair does look healthy, but once its washed again itz horrible lol i will try the oil treatments n putting oil into my hair once a week...thnx for tht!
Rani how often do u straighten ur hair n wat products do u use?
Btw the permanent straightening i really wanted to get tht done ...get it sorted once n for all!! but my hair is too weak for them to actually carry tht out, considering the fact tht they use chemicals etc My driving instructor (a white lady) got hers permanently straightened and her hair looks great now !! before it luked dull n damaged!

lolzz yeah but once a week like on sunday u can do it and the results r worthwile once u try it u would want to do it over and over again though i get scolded by my mom that wot takes me so long in shower hehehe n yeah even it depends on the products i have tried several serums but all of them dun work tht good i think u should stop straightening for a while oil and condition ur hair relegiously only straighten ur hair when u reallllllllly need it and do try that Fekkai Glossing (Sheer Shine Mist) sometimes i just spray my hair with this mist and dont even straighten em though my hair r wavy they look fine wid it :)
