different types of hair extension

I got clip in hair extionsions a few mths ago for the first time in my life. And I must say they r very convenient and easy to use. Plus they were not too expensive either. U can hear style them any way u want since they r human hair. Only $99 fit 160 gm set and they have em in tons of colors. I got em from dolcevittahair.com. HTH :)

Re: different types of hair extension

Hi - thanks for the advice guys. My hair is down to my hips now, but it's fallen out tremendously over the past month or so sob so it's really thin - I'm actually looking for more permanent hair extensions until it starts getting thick again (....IF it starts getting thick again :() so I think Deeba's heat sealed bonds idea sounds like the best option for me as it stands...

Re: hair extensions ..

so ive heared about weaving, glue and micro rings...

weaving is mainly for people with very strong thick afro hair..

i want to get extensions for my wedding. which would u recommend d rings or glue? i have thin hair... and i will b going to forhuman hair..
Will it b possible to get my hair done on d wedding valima with the extensions in?

Re: hair extensions ..

^Yes, they should be able to style your hair just fine.. If you're having human hair it can be heat styled, straightened etc. With synthetic hair heated appliances can cause the extensions to melt.. Just something to be aware of for others considering it..

Btw can the mods merge this hair extension thread with the other one?

Re: hair extensions ..

is it possible to comb ur hair easily when u have the extensions? my hair is wavy but i will get straight extensions coz i allways blowdry my hair and it falls straight that way...

Re: hair extensions ..

^Yes..

My hair has a slight wave to it but goes straight as soon as it's brushed thru..

Some brands of extensions come with a 'natural' wave which is basically just a v.slight wave in the packaging but then goes straight soon as it's brushed or blown dry.. After the first day or two it is basically straight hair.. With slightly wavy hair you can get away with that type which tends to look a bit thicker and have more body or poker straight extensions for a very sleek look..

On the other hand you can get specially treated extensions with curls which will only straighten with a LOT of effort..

Re: hair extensions ..

can anyone recommend clip in hair extensions that are extra long?? (like over 30 inches long???)

Re: hair extensions ..

Ouuu I have a set but I am completely forgetting which kind they were. Mine are real hair, are you looking for synthetic or real? Do you guys get your extensions cut to blend in with your real hair so you can wear them with straight hair?

Re: hair extensions ..

Nnabid, I'm pretty sure Prostyles do.. I have that brand in right now.. They come in 2 lengths and I have the shorter ones in at the moment which are still elbow length on me..

Re: hair extensions ..

I've used clip-ins in the past and really liked em since you can take they off, but because they are put in as flat panels, they aren't very flexible and you can only style your hair in a particular direction. That can be pretty tedious. I recently got bonded extensions. They used the cold fusion method on me so there was no heating. They took a few strands of hair and wrapped them around a cluster of my own hair and used a keratin bond (which basically feels like glue :p). so i can style my hair however i want to. They are very easy to manage and don't pull on my hair. The only challenge is brushing. you CANNOT use a comb and can only use a brush with natural bristles other wise the bond will become a tangly mess. I've had mine for a month and half and still love em.

I am thinking of adding the micropoints solution on my crown as i have thin hair. I got those done a few months back, but only got a couple of hundred hairs to see how they'd go. This time around, I am gonna get 500-600 hairs on my crown. i love that we live in this era and girls who aren't blessed with naturally thick hair have options too!

and WTH is with the Islamic lecturing on this thread???? can't ppl take that stuff into the religion thread and stop preaching their interpretation of Islam????

Re: hair extensions ..

don't really mind - real or synthetic. First choice would be real though.

Deeba1234 - did a search and pro-styles clip in hair only seems to be in one length - 18"????

doree - which brand of clip ins did you use and were they very long?

Re: hair extensions ..

how easy/difficult is it to maintain the micropoint solution?

Re: hair extensions ..

I've just checked and the synthetic Prostyles extensions come in 30" and 48" (wow) but the human hair extensions come in a maximum length of 20"..

Dome extensions (synthetic as well) come in 30" too..

I think you would struggle to find very long human hair extensions cos their supply is so limited.. I've just checked and the longest I can find is 22"..

Re: hair extensions ..

not difficult at all. Just avoid combs and plastic bristle brushes. Use natural fiber brushes are you will be fine.

Re: hair extensions ..

whats easier to style in a variety of different looks, synthetic or real?? if i remember correctly mine are real and yet i still can never get the ends to look the way i want because they are just to dryed out. i can straighten and curl but trying to blow dry the ends never works out...

Re: hair extensions ..

^Real tends to have more styling options (as well as heat styling it can also be dyed more easily)..

There are some synthetic extensions nowadays that can handle heat styling but most will melt.. My synthetic ones go super shiny when blow dried (I have to use the nozzle to get the ends smooth) but I have to be careful not to use too much heat..

Re: hair extensions ..

Hmmm thanks for the tip! I need to try syntehtic I think to see a difference because I have issues just the same with my real extensions...

Re: hair extensions ..

Hello again! I keep dipping in and out of this thread as my interest waxes and wanes.

Anyhoo I finally got round to researching (again!) and have booked my first consultation woo! Just wanted some advice from anyone who can help:

I've booked a consultation with Belle Hair extensions in Finchley, London - anyone heard of them and do you know if they're any good?

I would like to have fusion bonding using Keratin glue as I think this will last the longest (as opposed to micro rings....) - as long as it's done properly it should be okay, right?

What do all the different hair types mean and which one should I get? Remy?? Russia? Indian temple? European? Errr.....as a Pakistani which type of hair do you guys think is most suitable for our hair type???

Danke shön!!! X

Re: hair extensions ..

^The glued in ones should easily last you 3/4 months..

Let us know how it goes..

I had normal European hair when I had human hair extensions but that was yearss ago.. Of course it's about texture but I think if you have 'normal' desi hair you can prob get away with most types (European or Indian)..
