Nope. The bad practise of Sati existed before the muslim invasions but it was very localized and not a regularly practised social custom. The origin of Sati was anumarana and was not specific to the widow and practices like that existed all over the ancient world as I had said in one post.During the Islamic conquest of Indian subcontinent, sati practice increased exponentially, as rapes and abductions were commonly carried out by the Islamic invaders Sati was more common among the Kshatriya or warrior class women. Even later day smritis and puranas like the Padma purana forbids a Brahmin woman from performing Sati. Sati was also rare and almost unheard of in lower caste and tribal women. On the other hand Jauhar was invented solely due to dishonour of women at the hands of muslim invaders . This was a relatively new custom since enslavement of women as warbooty and slaves did not exist before the coming of muslims. Women of the vanquished were supposed to be treated with utmost respect . This is why Jauhar only happened when battles took place between muslims and hindus and not between hindus. Like I said, the already questionable status of women nosedived when muslims invaded India.

Any contacts between civilizations can be beneficial. But to say a conquest was a blessing is stretching the truth too far. The indian civilization was far superior than the muslim civilization that conquered in most thing except maybe barbarism. So Indians did not gain much intellectually and lost a lot socially and economically. But there was also a birth of a new culture and some enrichment of existing cultures

My humble request to you is that you please come out of one tract and biased mind.

If not then so be it, the facts will remain the facts.

**Tackle one idea first, before asking for any other and inventions or innovations.

Why I used word fact, is because, in terms of the heinous crime against humanity and women, Hinduism has made a lot of Hindu women subjected to the worst of all any other human can imagine and that is burning alive!!!

Sati or Satee was present and despite Muslim rulers tried their best to abolish this, it was continued and British had to make the law against it again by 1829. And prior to that, three Mughal Emperors also made it outlawed.

**Please tell me which Muslim army was degarading women and using them as war-booties before and even after Muslim rulers and warriors which can justify this crime against women for being widowed or even before they would be or potentially widowed…“The Jauhar”? **

I dare you to answer this.

• ** Mass Wife-Burning (Jauhar) ** - Often 100s are burnt at a time.
• ** Widow-Burning (Sati) ** - Sanctioned by the Vedas, Puranas, practiced by Krishna’s wives, it still continues.

The life of a woman who had her husband died of ANY cause was miserable, lonely and no man would dare showing any interest in her, worst than achoots/untouchables.

The depiction of Sati or Satee in pictorial form shows, it is and was a very well organized event and was approved by the people in India.

Humiliation of women was very much ingrained in Indian society long before Muslims even had any contact with this dark, very much enclosed and largely mythological society which never wanted to be opened to the ideas of the world outside and had fake superiority complex which is still shown by people in India.

Please acknowledge that the crime against women and females still is very much the part of Indian society and female infanticied has taken thousands of lives in India despite the era **is well AFTER Muslim rule.
