^how do I imporve my stamina? I've been working out continously at the gym for the past year now and I work out about 1 1/2-2 hours every time I go. I enjoy everything BUT THE ELLIPTICAL. It kills me. But my legs are really something that I want to be perfect, so I need to do it. The treadmill I do about 30-45 minutes. Incline 2... starting at 3.5 with 5.7 being the highest I can go. I've done 6 only about three times in my life and its been too heavy on my heart... I start feeling faint and just overall bleghh so I havent had the courage to go that high again.
I always thought that the ellipticals were easier on the legs than the treadmill? How fast are you striding, and how is the incline like? Treadmills are actually thought to be brutal on the legs because of the greater impact (might be bad for the bones too). I always use the ellipticals as a target achiever, i.e. to reach a certain number of calories burnt per day, after Im done running.
Sara, how about trying a higher speed and then going back to a lower one once you get fatigued or out of breath? If you keep running the same distance, on the same speed every day, there comes a time when you dont get tired, and thats when you have to move to the next level.
The elliptical I only incline at 1… and I find the whole back and forth leg movement of the elliptical to be much harder than the treadmill. One thing im unhappy about with the treadmill is how it made me calves. I dont want them this strong and hard
Yep, then you should probably restrict your speed, as higher speeds will only add more muscle to the calves. If I were you, I'd try the lowest setting on the ellips, with the lowest resistance and lowest inclines, just do it longer than normal. Protien shakes and all, a big no. Thats the best way to lose weight and avoid adding too much muscle. Remember, increased aerobics will tone your body, and you might end up putting on more weight because muscles denser than fat. Lean muscle is the key though.
Sometimes they have free fitness advising sessions at gyms too, you should talk to the advisors, they ask questions about your metabolism and will work out the best routine for you.
i'd really like u to change ur diet a bit and exercise with proper technique and have patience while u lose the weight.. there have been testimonials about hydroxycut but im not too sure about it..just stick to eating 5-6 small but healthy meals throughout the day..and dont overdo your exercise.. what most ppl forget is you dont lose weight/gain muscles while you're in gym.. you're only breaking down the muscles.. real process starts when u step out of gym.
If you dont seem to lose weight even after tweaking up your diet a bit or see any kind of weight loss.. for a month or so... then go for supplement like hydroxycut etc.. but im pretty sure diet and proper exercise technique is all thats needed to get what u want.
ps: why not add protein shake in to your diet.. it's not just for gaining muscles.. it can also be used as weight loss remedy , since you'll be getting protein with no added sugar or any kind of fat, and calories per serving is also pretty low.
the more muscle mass you have , the less fat u have on ur body. Muscles weight more than fat but take less space than fat does.
I think i missed this post of yours earlier...tx its all good info. yes i wantd to add protein shakes but will have to get more info on that..maybe going to GNC mite help!?!...lets c...thanx again :).
I'll join this topic as I started the gym (again) last friday! I had my in-take and did cycling for 10 mins and then lifting cuz they had to 'measure' me. Now I'll get a personalised programme next time I'm there (wednesday) and will also join 2 group lessons (body combat and body attack).
The goal is to lose at least 10kg, in combination with healthy eating.
yep i remember him for this and his 'aye khudaa" days. and he looks pretty good in there too.
the same applies to the bollywoodization of atif aslam. he was supposed to be a rock singer and not be singing ballads for indian films.
sticking to the topic. headed to the gym @ 10 today. im pushing myself to drink more water because indoor heating is dehydrating me…the lips are always chapped and parched.
I prefer the treadmill over the elliptical even though i use both. The elliptical leaves me with a pins&needles sensation in my heel for some reason…
