my take on this topic is if we look at it from an islamic point of view. I guess such provisions donot exist.
Depending on the society n culture i live in, yes martanians n venusians can b freinds irrspective of whether u r married or not.

Irem – I don’t understand this post. You start off attacking the reader without any context. It’s like you are in the middle of an argument with someone and instead of directing your frustration at him/her/yourself, you are directing it toward the general GS population without any reason.

The more friendly you are with the opposite gender, the bigger FLIRT and hypocrite you are.

People can be friendly without flirting. The purpose of flirting is to draw attention to yourself. Being friendly can actually be the result of sincere concern and interest in another individual. It is in most cases.

One can decide the level of someone’s flirtatiousness by how many “friends” of the opposite gender they have or how friendly they are with na-mehrams.

And how have you determined this formula?

From a girl’s perspective: If you’re too friendly with a guy you might be leading him on without intending to do that. That is a sin.

According to whom? Where is the textual basis for this claim?

If a guy is too friendly with you his intention might be to not lead you on either but you might get led on b/c at some point you lost a grip on yourself (gave in to the whisperings of Satan) or b/c you misunderstand the guy’s friendliness and decide to “reciprocate”.

So? People misinterpret each others’ intentions. So what? How is this a sin? This happens in non-romantic situations as well.

We’re not babies, I think all of us know this.

HOW the heck can people claim that they intended their relatonship with someone of the opposite gender to be totally platonic? I don’t get it. They are obviously lying through their teeth.

What do you mean? What if they still care about the person’s well-being, but are not interested in being romantically involved? Just because you cannot comprehend something or are incapable of it, doesn’t mean it is impossible for everyone.

There is a reason why free mixing is not allowed in Islam.

“Free mixing” is not the same as having trusted friends from both genders.

Human nature usually is prone to sin and is weak, not all human beings have excellent self control and even if YOU do what is the guarantee that the other person does?

These were my honest two cents. I’m not an angel either. But this is my true conclusion.

You say this here, but the rest of your post is an attack against all the “sinners.” It’s self-righteous and condescending. Throughout the post you say you cannot understand the mentality of all of these “sinners,” and then say, “oh I’m not perfect either.” I don’t understand this. Although I’m sure you don’t intend to, you come off very hypocritical here, attacking people for something that you may very well do yourself.
