Guy Friends

I treasure my guy friends, but I’ve noticed that in our culture, it’s really hard to make just simple GUY FRIENDS.

There are guys at work that I deal with that are desi, but it’s mostly a friendly interaction at work, maybe with some nights out at dinners and such.

They’re just so…low maintenance and low stress, plus they’re nice and give you compliments like “you look pretty” and such unlike skank women friends who want to secretly compete with each other while being nice to the face.

Re: Guy Friends

I have a stalker at my university library. How do I get rid?

Re: Guy Friends

it's a girl? why don't you go say hi to her?

Re: Guy Friends

A) She seems a bit of a nutjob
B) My current girlfriend is the revision paper that sits in front of me as we speak.
C) Not very attractive nor very intelligent.
D) I think her Middle Eastern friend is pretty good looking.
E) Look at point A.

Re: Guy Friends

Re: Guy Friends

Re: Guy Friends

:chai:

Re: Guy Friends

Noops 'AND' . . . we can achieve both at the same time

Re: Guy Friends

maybe with some nights out at dinners..............thank god....haha.
Kindly tell me what would be your reaction if your hubby/ bf gets a compliment from a female co-worker?
PS- Lets just assume for a moment that your guy's co worker is prettier then you and somewhere deep inside your heart you think she is ULLU KEE PATTI!!

Re: Guy Friends

Yo!..that's true. Couple of my bestie female friends say that what ya said. Besides yo..it's easy to complement to chicks that i personally know. In the past i got myself in trouble coz i admired couple of desi chicks and they thought i was hitting on them. Actually i was not..but complementing the way they dressed. So i am normally careful around desi chicks!.

Re: Guy Friends

I adore my guy friends. They always make me laugh!

Re: Guy Friends

It’s not just our culture, it’s every culture. Western women just friend zone guys.

I’m pretty sure this had bee posted on GS before but once again…

Re: Guy Friends

I stopped listening to that when I heard "Utah State".

Re: Guy Friends

You're very open minded

Re: Guy Friends

as is Utah...

Re: Guy Friends

Lmao I’m not from anywhere near Utah, and I’m in a field where I wouldn’t feel out of place looking down on most other professions, but your presumptions and knocks against Utah are jokes. I do hope the irony of you claiming that Pakistani men don’t listen to and respect women, and then you doing the same against Utah State, isn’t lost on you.

Good day sir :hehe:

Re: Guy Friends

When did I say that about Pakistani men?

Utah on the other hand ... those people think like they're still in the 1920's.

Re: Guy Friends

I believe you've written extensively about Desi culture expecting women to be quiet, seen and not heard, that type of stuff. Agreed, there are backwards thinking people in Utah, but not everyone is like that. I hardly judge everyone from NJ because I saw one episode of Jersey Shore.

Anyway, back on topic, the video is made as a joke but it highlights an underlying difference. Women consider men who are interested in them to be "friends", whereas those men are still trying to get with her so it's a one-sided friendship. So, as you said, it's hard to make guy friends but that's true in any culture. People in the West just like to pretend that they're friends, while secretly hoping for a drunken hook-up.
