Music of Guru is out.
I was waiting for this album, the director is Tamils best known director and gave hits like Roja, Bombay, Kannathil Muthamittal, Alaipayude etc. Its a treat to see his movies and his story telling. He also introduced AR Rahman to the music industry and all his movies have the best songs and AR rahman always reserves the best for him. So here we go 7 unique songs from AR rahman.
This time around AR rahman gave more to melodies and used soft instruments.

I love all the songs. Just like many of AR rahmans previous songs, it just grows on you. Lyrics by gulzar makes it even more better.
The release date would be around Pongal. Tamil festival.(january 14th). It has nothing to do with tamil nadu but still the movie is made in tamil and hindi. It is rumoured that the story is loosly depicting the life of Dhirubhai Ambani.
I hope they actually advertise it more than they advertised "Umrao Jaan". This seems like a really good movie and if people have no idea about it, then it will end up being an undeserving flop.
Plus, I think Abhishek deserves atleast one big hit for himself...poor guy:(
A R Rehman has done it again… Songs are growing on me. I looked up Dhirubhai Ambani after vineshvk mentioned it. Now I am looking forward to the movie too … its gonna be very sentimental. Something special about Maniratnam is his ability to show both sides of a conflict. He has his pickings but he do show other side of the story too. In ROJA he not only raises the patriotic feeling but also shows the human nature of terrorist. In BOMBAY he shows the ugly side of religious riots but also shows hindu-mulsim brother hood. In Kannathil Muthamittal he shows the futility of war but also shows the inviolability of the conflict. I would recomend this movie to anyone interested to see the human side of the tamil-sinhalese conflict. In all of these he tells the story from a lovers point of view. In all his movies love is the main theme. But adapts it to different conflict and problems the protogonist face during their union. I love his way of story telling.
In this movie too guru(abshishek) is an ambitious young man wanting to reach the top. To get there he is ready to break the law. His argument is that laws are made for a purpose and if some laws are detrimental to reach that purpose t hen he has the right to break that law. Madhavan(RDB fame) who is a civil servant in the movie thinks laws whatever it is should adhered to at all cost. Because of contrasting views he comes into conflict with gurus interest. The story is all about how guru reaches the top.
Hmmm, interesting info. I am not sure if i really agree with the 'breaking law' part and his argument is not so convincing yet... i hope it doesn't give wrong lessons cuz even if Guru knew his limits, his followers won't. Well, we will be able to tell after watching the movie.
I saw clips of Guru a couple of days ago at Bhagam Bhaag. It has got the formula for a hit... A.R. Rehman's music with Gulzar's lyrics, an inpiring story (people's hero), item song by that girl (malaika?), Vidya Balan, Ash and the happening Abhishek and above all, Mani Ratman as the story teller. I don't think they can go wrong with this team. I'd say it will be a big hit. The music is fabulous.
i heard that the world premiere for this movie is being held in toronto at elgin theature..i think next week....both Ash and AB Jr will be here!!!! how cool is that! dunno why toronto though....
So guys, today Guru was released. So did anyone see the movie. I have to waite for the dvd. Nothing gets released in this part of the world.
