actually of my closest friends, my paki friends were actually more crazy! infact the my gori friends who came from conservative backgrounds, were much like myself very conservative as well. and the paki girls from liberal or screwed up homes were just as freaky as any of thier gori counterparts.

i think we should treat others as we want them to treat us. we shouldn't assume and generalize about an entire culture based upon our - what i am guessing can only be superficial encounters. We don't want others to think that all muslim women are oppressed and submissive and illeterate, or that all muslim men are abusive..... so if we dont want others to generalize about all of us b/c of thier prejudices, then we shouldnt do that to others.

you dont need to put others down to make yourself apear better.

i will concede this much - paki culture has yet to shed its colonialized mentality....even though we are free we are still thinking like colonialized people.... we still look at the europeans as superior, and thats where, i think, our desire for gora rung (and i dont mean just western gori - i mean paki girls who are fair-skinned also) comes from.

its really funny but i think i shed mentality b/c i lived away from pakistan, and where i live..if u are too pale its actually considered quite ugly! someone walks in with a tan they are suddenly soooo hot! and i am not the only one here who thinks soo... most ppl agree. tan def. hands down hot! ofcourse beauty is still somewhat sujective.... in the eyes of the beholder and all.... i disagree. i think beauty is becoming very objective! with the advent of TV and magazines telling us all what is beauty and what is not!

Mahanoor, you are generalizing with a pretty broad brush - not all non-muslim goris are bad, and not all desi muslims are good. You are insulting my family members by assuming that they are a certain way, yet they are far more religious than many desi families I know.

Although I am a muslim, I have been treated much worse by muslim desis than by non-muslim goris. My children, my husband and I have been insulted over and over by ignorant people like you. You know I was once spit on by a desi woman in the UK? There is an article that another convert wrote, about the way that Pakistanis in particular treat white converts, called "I love Islam, but can't stand some muslims."

desis dont like goris because many times they have ruined the homes of many desi families..and hence are usually seen as home wreckers…by chasing after desi husbands…some of them would do anything to get him (are desi men more attractive than goras?)…even knowing that he is married. for this reason…the kind of image that most desis have of gori women is not a very good one…and this is the reason you may have experienced what you did.

amana most of the guys here on Life 1 are not even on the doorstep of being 20. they are still thinking what they are told to think. they are over-protected by their ammi jis, and don’t know the real world…unless you count what they see on ARY. same might go for some girls.

forget about them. I had the privelege of knowing one of the most amazing Muslimah i met…and she is white. at the same time…some of my really good friends have been white. i forumlate my opinion based on what i see with my own eyes.

Well i suppose it deopends how exposed they are to different cuultures…a white girl in east london a bengali area is more likely to have an understanding of Muslims norms and customs…go down the road to Romford a heavily white populated area then the goreh are less likely to have an understanding of Muslim norms and customs…

I grew up in a white suburb (in Greenwich borough) and went to a mainly white school. People didn’t have an understanding of Muslim norms, but when I explained to my white friend that the reason why I wasn’t interested in trying to get laid like them was that my religion teaches it to be sinful and immoral, they didn’ ever bring it up as an issue.

Amana, first of all, like many have said here, people like you are what we need more of, educated, broad minded, and intelligent people, forget religion. People like mahanoor and naughty by nature, by their very posts, make it very clear what type of people they hang out with. When you hang out with trash, you will see trash. You folks obviously haven't hung out with the educated goris, which is why you think all goris are bad people.

Naughty says taht educated goris don't marry asians and stick to their kind, that's because he/she, in their very small lives have never seen such a union. I'm married to a gori and she's very educated, what do you say to that? Anyhow, I don't think anyone should have to defend themselves or an entire race to these ignorant people, they think that their paki land is the purest place in the world yet you find them living in the west, that says a lot right there. In my opinion, these people are such self loathers that they can't help BUT say nasty stuff about goris.

I agree with you that they arent usually bad about it...but uts still an alien concept to them...they may even respect you for it but they would still think its strange...thats assuming that they do things differently...obviously if he shares your values then he'd be more understanding...but your average white guy will think its strange...and they will be like that to anyone whos values are different to theirs...if everyones secular having sex and acting on impulse then someone who is principled believes in god and does things differently they will naturally not understand...lol they'll probably feel a bit sorry for you for missing out...

Im not singling white people out...its human nature...if people are different to us then we assume their behaviour to be strange...we just need to be careful that we respect that people are different and not become arrogant and look down at others for their ways...just like we'd hope people would respect us...
