Great suggestion Attia.
Anyone that is coming in a car .... bring a chaadar or a dari to use for seating.
In the final few days before the bbq, we will be assigning food items etc.
Also during those days we will try to distribute other responsibilities so that nobody is unnecessarily burdened.

anyone who is a student of any kind..bring ur student card with u…u get a discount on the ferry ride 
and also…if anyone has anti-bumble bee spray (if they have even invented that) ..bring it along 
theres alot of those there as well (ive been there 5-6 times with family already)

last night i was convincing my hubby to come...hes not mr. social you know..lol....so its a maybe from me...i'll let you know when the date comes closer....if he doenst come, then maybe i'll come by myself.....

I don't want to sound pushy....and I certainly don't want anyone to be forced to say "No".....but it's really difficult to plan an event if everyone gives me an okay "when the date comes closer".
I am trying to actually book picnic areas, facilities, fire permits etc. with the city and it becomes difficult if I am guessing right up to the end.
Sorry......I guess I'm venting.

Muzna, is there an entrance fee into the park. I was looking on the Centre Island website and it says it is $27.50. Does that include the boat ticket?. I just want to clarify for everybody. I’m trying to get my sister to join us.

muzna..sorry 'bout that..i didnt realize there was a lot of planning going into it..usually when i go with my family, we just go...i never knew there were any permits, table booking, etc....ok i will let you know by tomorrow...
mehnaz...i dont think there is a fee for centre island...at least when i also went last year, i had only paid for the ferry.....like what maddy said

There is NO FEE for entrance to the island.
You are only responsible for the cost of the ferry ride. (And if my nephew is collecting at the gate and you happen to accompany me through, then you don't pay that either. ;))
The $27.50 is for people that want to use the amusement rides at the park.

Sorry....my post wasn't directed to you only. Several people have told me that they will confirm closer to the date.
And the reason why there is so much planning going into it is that I don't want to risk showing up there without a booking and then finding out that there isn't a suitable spot available cuz others beat us to it. People tend to become upset if arrangements are not suitable and the last thing that I want is for someone to not have fun.
We need to organize food and if we don't know how many people are coming, we run the risk of shortages. Which is fine in a way, cuz if anyone joins late then they know that they need to accept the pre-arranged plans and just bring something themselves, but again, it gets noses out of joint cuz "somebody joined late and then ate the kababs leaving not enough for those that had committed early on." Sounds unreasonable, but trust me, it has happened.

Parking downtown is only $20 at the most! Surely you can shell out that much. Don't make me embarass you.
You will be carrying stuff because everyone is bringing something. If not food then you will be bringing coal or drinks or eating implements or something!
And NO, you cannot bring chips and salsa.
