Gul e Rana

Anyone watching this? I am loving it so far Sajal Aly and Feroze Khan paired up again..just hope its not ruined like Chup Raho!

Re: Gul e Rana

it looks nice from trailors but after watching it so far i dont like it. So much over acting by the girls playing role of feroze's cousions. half of the episode always is about them coming to mamu's house and stupid fights. i hope story gets better soon.

Re: Gul e Rana

Too many bakwas filler scenes with the cousins's side story, who are always at their mamu's house rather than their own. Lalchi puphhis. x__x

Re: Gul e Rana

I can't stand Sajal.
She looks like a malnourished child/girl

Re: Gul e Rana

I can't even with this show. Is the "hero" the actual hero or the villain? Don't like any of the characters.

Re: Gul e Rana

First of all... who the fk decided to make Humaima Malick and Feroze Khan "stars"? I don't get it... Malick looks like a man and her brother looks like a flamboyant midget. They're both ridiculous and their popularity makes no sense to me.

Sajal Aly does indeed look like a malnourished child... there's one thing where you look cute and young (a la Syra Yusuf-Shehroz) and it's another thing completely to cast someone who looks like she is 10 years old! Wth. Srsly. WTH.

The cherry on top... the beyond stupid story-line. The guy forcefully marries her and I read comments on YouTube like, "omigahh he's so romantic" W.T.H. I don't understand why HUMTV/Geo etc keep on making these sh*t dramas where the woman is forced into marriage or stalked or abused... but eventually the girl falls in love/reconciles/continues being a punching bag until he falls in love with her... what a horrible message to send to young girls. I'm more riled up cos my younger cousins (ages 16-19) visited me and were ga-ga over the drama and praising it to no end. It really broke my heart to think girls find this romantic... and as much as we may "it's JUST a drama" or whatever... this is a huge platform for Pakistanis. A lot of things are normalized and learned from what they portray.

Or maybe I just hate Feroze Khan.

Re: Gul e Rana

I hadn't seen any pak dramas in ages and it's safe to say after watching one epsiode I will not for a long time. So much regressive crap is not digestible.

Re: Gul e Rana

Humaima and her brother are literally twins, with the recent work on her face shes far from being cute or attractive....shes from a paindo family and used to reside in an apt building in karachi before making it big. Her three sisters are divorced...dua is the only one whos married and is the one whos sensible and decent, i find her cute but besides that their mom is a gold digger who put humaima out to do this and now lives in a big bunglow in defence, karachi and eats on her showbiz money and so does the elder brothers wife who lives with them while the brother is a normal worker in dubai

Re: Gul e Rana

i find her to be another veena/meera- she will do anything to try and make it big in bollywood and tried her best to get mahiras role in raees....too bad mahira is talented and deserve to be with shahrukh...while humaima will only get typical veena meera roles with emraan hashmi...:D

Re: Gul e Rana

This is the case with literally every drama on air these days. The sharif heroine of the drama maybe educated and know how to do philosophical bak bak but she will put up with all the abuse.

Someone mentioned in one of the comments that the story is supposed to show women empowerment. Hell no!

If it really did, she would at least confide in her mother, move out and get jobs. Report the dude for harassing her to police.

Gone are the days of Zindagi Gulzar Hai, now that was really about women empowerment.

Re: Gul e Rana

SRK is my all time favorite..Mahira is very sweet..watched her tv show

Re: Gul e Rana

I am hooked to this drama at the moment despite the loopholes

Re: Gul e Rana

I keep watching this drama just to understand what point the story is trying to make??? This highly unrealistic drama doesn't make any sense. How did they do a Nikah after having already been married before? Why did she pass out but not die in the episode right after nikah? Why doesn't she tell anyone or file for divorce? What is going on!!?

Re: Gul e Rana

This is a good drama. I don't find what Feroze is doing romantic at all and don't believe in the "forceful marriage" thing. But I like Sajal's spunk. I wish they would show a way for her to walk out instead of what I think will be (both falling for each other). She didn't tell anyone because they would say, oh he is your husband now and you must make the best of it. I also like how they have shown the main guy not be to in love with her so far for real, for him its more a power game.

Re: Gul e Rana

^ completely agree with you, this is the only drama i am watching right now (waiting for Mann Mayal to completely finish before i start watching it,) and i am enjoying it a lot. To me the story is very different in a sense that he forced her to marry her, not just the parent-forced marriage.

Re: Gul e Rana

This drama is stuck at the same place for the last 6 episodes.

Adeel is still an ass, no ounce of remorse/reflection for what he has done or continues to do to Rana. No one STILL knows that he forced her to marry him. What is the point of her loser cousin Ashar being in the story again, he looks depressed and I'm unsure whether he's sad for what's happening to her, or he has feelings for her. This many episodes in, and Ashar's marriage still hasn't materialized.

There's absolute zero women empowerment in this play. Aside from retorts to her husband, Gul e Rana has done nothing but put up with his callous behavior, not even after she discovered him harassing another girl in the middle of the night in a separate room. He would've raped her if she hadn't shown up, and then Gul e Rana's audacity to say to the girl that she encouraged that behavior by wearing the clothes she was wearing (which was a t-shirt and sweatpants). What the hell? Is this what the stupid drama folks are trying to impart to the audience? x__x

Re: Gul e Rana

hmm a bit of a change in the drama..
One thing I don't understand, why does Asher not know he is sick? If it's blood cancer he wouldn't be running around and organising his wedding.

ep 16's promo seems good..that slap though, he would've felt that sting for ages!

Re: Gul e Rana

I was about to stop watching this drama but I am glad finally the story is moving...and not stuck at the same spot.

Re: Gul e Rana

i like the drama, the way they twisted it, its very interesting

Re: Gul e Rana

they didn't air a new episode this past saturday right?
