lol, oh man. the packed lunch embarrassments. for a few years i went to a school where i was the only non-white person, so yeh, totally been there!

i can relate, the secondary school i went to didnt have many asians either, however,i had lunch in the canteen so no major embarassments lol

Actually I grew up pretty much away from parents , so there was never alot of guidance when it came to handling embarassment or bullying and the usual issues … so I learnt totally by experience that there is nothing to hide , just remain confident.

I never ever hid my desiness, infact , I have always felt very proud of my roots .. and thats made life alot more easier

**Really, if you dont mind me asking,how come? im very proud too now that i am a lot older and know more about my roots and have been to pakistan more,but i think most people would naturally grow out of the kind of embarassment the thread’s about. **

don’t be embarrassed by the lunch… big deal it has some strong aroma

actually - I don’t like wearing desi when I go out. I am not embarrassed but I just don’t feel myself in them (unless it’s a desi occasion).

i dont really wear asian clothes on a regular basis myself, am much more comfortable in western wear cos am more used to it so i get you

yeah i remember whn i frst moved to canada … i cld understand and speak normal english very well but was clueless about the slang … and the frst of skool whn someone asked me wats up and i had no freakin clue on how to answer it … that was kinda embarassing
