Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

Defending the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat that has come under fire for the fake encounter saga of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati, senior BJP leader L K Advani said these were attempts to tarnish the image of the Modi government.

Tarnish the image of Modi govt? For those who are not aware of how Modi’s image is being tarnished…

But the Gujarat government has opposed the CBI probe saying it might be misused for “political reasons”. On Tuesday, the court will pass orders on the petition by Sheikh’s brother, demanding the CBI investigation into the entire episode.

"The case of fake encounter of Sohrabuddin today took a U turn as Modi government handed over the investigations of the case back to Geeta Johari. Government had taken away the investigations from Johari in an obvious bid to cover up the fake encounter case.

CID Crime which is investigating the case has also detained eight officers for questioning in the case which has hit headlines in the national media. It has also sparked off a national debate between BJP and Congress as the scandal has created political storm against Narendra Modi led BJP government in Gujarat.

The somersault of Modi government is the result of a query of the Supreme Court today in which the Court wanted to know if the investigations were with Johari. It is the report of Johari that has exposed one of the heinous crimes by senior police officers of Gujarat and Rajasthan police.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Gujarat in joint operation with Rajasthan police had in November 2005 killed Sohrabuddin in fake encounter and later raped his wife Kausarbibi and burnt her to death. In yet another operation a friend of Sohrabuddin Tulsi Prajapati was also shot dead by police.

The case is turning into a strong battle of legal nerves for Narendra Modi as Gujarat is going to polls this year. However, its all attempts are exposing the nervousness of the Chief Ministers who had successfully created an image of invincible among his friends and foes.

The first blunder that invited more troubles for Modi was the admission of Gujarat police that Sohrabuddin was killed by Gujarat police in fake encounter and police was further probing the case. Probably the idea was to convince the Supreme Court that with this submission there was no point in entertaining the petition filed by Sohrabuddin’s brother.

But the Court asked the state government to submit Action Taken Report within four weeks. Once again, just on the eve of submission of the ATR the state government arrested three IPS officers. They are DIG DG Vanzara, SP Rajkumar Pandian of Gujarat police and SP M N Dinesh of Rajasthan police. This was to show the action part and establish that now there was nothing more.

However, now the Court wanted to know about Kausarbibi, the wife of Sohrabuddin, who was missing from the day of the encounter. Also, UPA government raised its demand for CBI inquiry into the case. Two days after the query, the Modi government told the Supreme Court that Kausarbibi was raped and burnt to death. Certainly, evidence of burning is not generally found. But from Gujarat police point of view this was a strong argument to prove that it was competent to investigate the case and so there should not be any CBI Investigations by the CBI is haunting Modi government and right from the Modi government in Gujarat to BJP media band in Delhi all are opposing it with all kind of funny logic. In their attempt to save Modi, BJP is coming out with the theories which have a very damaging view of the Constitution and law of India. They are openly coming out with the stories of criminal record of Sohrabuddin just to give the impression that his encounter did not deserve any investigation and the encounter was right.

Now when matter came up for hearing today and government had profiled all its legal theories to counter the CBI investigations threat, the Court had another question. What about Geeta Johari, the IPS officer who first investigated the case. By the time a copy of the developments of Supreme Court reached the office of Narendra Modi, he was ready with the instructions to bring Johari back to lead investigations!!! "

And it’s not the only case of Muslim ‘terrorists’ being killed in Gujarat. http://www.hindu.com/2007/05/04/stories/2007050404681200.htm

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Advani is supporting his follower Modi. The question is: Is Indian democracy strong enough and secular enough to get rid of such scum? Can this guy be indicted on any charges? Or will he be reelected once again?

Re: Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

The strength of Indian democracy and its secular intent can be seen just by looking at the Prime Minister and the President of the country.

This is the World Affairs forum.. not Bharat Mata forum.. take this garbage somewhere else.. :bash:

Re: Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

yes where we discuss ‘how to remove a disused Boeing 737 stuck in a busy road’. :hehe: bharat mata is also in this world.

kallu, i didn’t ask you to compare pakistan and india. the questions were simple: do indians believe that modi is a criminal or has to answer for what has been going on under his watch? if yes, then how long will it take before political or judicial process gets rid of such people? if economic growth was the sole measure of how well a state is being governed, many fascists and dictators can qualify for best leader position.

Re: Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

by the way, pakistan govt. and press should also closely monitor these developments, because india has been killing these 'Pakistan-backed' 'terrorists' in fake encounters, and using these incidents to target pakistan internationally.

Re: Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

can you guys stay on topic without comparing issues with Pakistan. theres a seperate forum for that.

Re: Gujarat is best governed state - Advani

Yeah, he is a criminal … but prosecuting him is not gonna take place any time soon, not when he is a chief minister of a state.

@Amorphous : I didn’t compare Gujarat with Pakistan deliberately…
