Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Parveen shakir ka koi kalam jo aap ko pasand ho zaroor post kejiye?

BTW, you didn't mention any of sufi poets. I thought being from Punjab, you might love sufi poetry.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Kaisay kaisay log hamray jee koh jalanay aa jatey hain
Apnee apnee post say thread koh kahrab kernay aa jatey hain

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

You said that you only learned urdu when you were 11. How was your first interaction with Punjabi?

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

We always spoke punjabi at home even in Kenya so I was well versed with it when I came to Pakistan.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Theek hai samajh gayi hoon. I’m not welcomed here :snooty:

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Ok then you might like Muneer Niaza's 'Kuch sanoon maran da shoq wi si' and 'Mere shoq da nai aitbar koi' sung by Ghulam Ali.

My second question was do you find any difference between yesteryear's poets and today's poets?

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

You are welcome Khumar  Can we have you our guest of the week in any of the next weeks?

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

  1. Cant remember exactly but I think it was Iqbal
  2. The poets in my time were more nationalistic, leftist and secular than they are now. Maybe because we were a very young nation at the time and everyone was focused on the nation. People like Habib Jalib, Josh Maliahabadi and Faiz etc. Today the nation is in its worse position yet we dont see many poets writing about it.
  3. Dont know many of the leading poets have been male, maybe it has to do something with our culture where in earlier days women didnt have much role outside the house. Still many female poets are around today and the best one of them Parveen shakir is as good as any of them.
  4. Shayri woh joh dil koh chu jaye, mozoo koi bhi ho, shayree mein gehrayee honee chahiye, phir maza aata hai.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Good, good. :hula:

You are not falling for the drama queen act. :smack:

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Kia shadi ke baad ghamgeen poetry parhna aur sunena acha lagta hai?

Have you ever tried to write something?

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

I dont think it has anything to do with the marriage, if unfortunately the marriage is not working than maybe otherwise you still like the same poetry.

No I have not tried writing anything, I dont think I have that sort of command of the language.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Yes both these songs are very good. I have already answered your other question.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Nice to meet you sir

As You have said you are reading poetry since you were child.
Though I have no interest in poetry
I want you to explain this to me.

sar phul vo charha jo chamn se nikal gaya
acha vohi raha jo watan se nikal gaya

Such like that:bummer:

Do you think the poet who said so was right???

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Thank you but please dont call me sir, I am just an ordinary person.

As for the shair, probably right in the prevailing conditions in our country. One can argue it both ways.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

There should be respect for elder people that's why I have called you so.

but I think this poetry was by old poets maybe like Mir taqi Mir.

So, I think explanation should be made according to that.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

I dont know who wrote that or what the circumstances were during that time, maybe it was during the British Raj.

Re: Guest of the Week- Ehsan Uncle

Yeah you are right sir.

So, according to your point of view this is correct:hmmm:
