Anyway, the whole idea of a remake is stupid. The original Sholay is engraved in history and any remake will be a complete flop. It just cannot be copied.
But my nomination for Gabbar Singh will be Rani Mukherjee

Karma was a good movie but was very different from Sholay, mainly for two reasons:
It did not had Dharmendra.
Dharmendra was not there.
My favorite dialogue from Karma:
Khairo: "Aisa kion kya app ne?"
Dada Thakur: "Zaroori tha!"
Khairo: "Meri baat maano sahab, un ko jaanay do, ...woh jeena chahtay hain...."

^ This thread is not about Karma and it was very different to Sholay in terms of treatment, direction. Basic idea might be the same but the movie came out entirely a different project.
There are lots of things famous about Sholay. One of them is that the director Ramesh sippy often said that even if he had to remake Sholay with the same team and cast, he wouldnt be able to do it again as it came out beyond expectation.
Gabbar was a middle aged man in sholay. I dont know how can Amitabh play it but RGV should be able to do half the justice with the feel of the movie.

Yes, no one can replace dharmendra. He is the one actor BollyWood can never replace. Sholay will be destroyed and it will be just fun afterwards, if RVG creates it.
As for RGV, it is good for him to make his movies based on some old Indian ideas instead of importing them from HollyWood.
