Re: GS in your life
I still remember the first time I came across GS, it may have been between 8-10pm 1 June 2003, as I was later registered on 2 June 2003, I had been searching for pictures of Quaid-e-Azam, the young Mr Jinnah to be specific and whichever search engine I may have been using at the time (probably Yahoo) shot up this picture and the link lead me to a threadon the Paklinks website; a forum.

Richard Lintern & Indira Verma depciting M. A. Jinnah & Ruttie Jinnah respectively in the movie JINNAH.
I was working on a presentation and looking for Quaid and Ruttie Jinnah’s photographs from younger years, some post in some thread had this photograph and the poster said it was the real couple. Few posts later someone had corrected and stated it was the movie couple and not real. I’ve tried searching for that thread but haven’t been able to locate it yet.
The GS concept, the entire forum with such diversity in membership, views, forums and lots of interesting discussion going on being actively participated in on subjects of great interest to me in history, society, culture, literature, philosophy, military, politics, religion, relationships, health, as well as casual comical discussions and even taboo topics, all were enough to allure me and I was captured by the interesting place called Paklinks/Gupshup. I registered as a member with my full name and no creative ID, have regretted that at times for various reasons, but I was then new to the world of web forums.
GS has become a major part of my life in quite a few ways. The diverse interaction with people, views from all over and all walks is interesting. The sense of community, cooperative spirit, accessibility to people and their views, advice, support, bonding, sharing light moments, meeting/discovering new as well as old contacts or those with common backgrounds/interests and so on, is an interesting influence.
It does affect daily routines in the sense that when I was not a member, I feel I had some free time which was used more for outdoor stuff, socializing and even study, work etc. Being a member and also being a moderator, you’re attracted to the computer more. A few hours spendable elsewhere are spent here.
AlhamdoLillah there haven’t been any major affects on routines/priorities etc but the free hours and their usage is majorly influenced by GS. Not to mention that no matter how much time one spends one is left hungry for more. Besides I really don’t find as much time for GS nowadays as I want to. But I bet most of us dont. So perhaps as long as time management is good alls well.
