Given that I’m just looking for excuses to not study, I thought I’d find out a little about the members here.

I reckon it started in 2000 for me or a little earlier. I believe I started using Paklinks to search for Pakistani websites. I think I even submitted my own crappy one, which didn't last too long. In any case, I saw this option for forums; however, it was under construction at the time. I kept visiting Paklinks and saw the forums working. I don't know how or why, but I was motivated to register and I've been around since then.

I've had two nicks. I wanted Sadia, but someone already had it, so I ended up registering as Sadiaa. Eventually down the road I came across another way of spelling my name. I liked it, so I decided to register as 'Sadiyah'. These are the only two nicks I've had and I believe everyone knows about it.

I like to browse General, Khel 1 (usually when Pakistan's playing), Shor Sharaba 1 more than Shor Sharaba 2, as I'm quite into Pakistani dramas. Then there's Pak 1, World Affairs, Culture, Life 1 more than Life 2. Once in a while I'd venture in Bazaar Talk and C&A. Last but not the least Religion forum. I guess I pretty much browse through most of the forums with the exception of a few. Oh.. I almost forgot to mention Computer Talk! I've almost always gotten helpful responses and I've learned plenty from there.

None really.

** 5. How has GS affected you? Has it changed you or reformed you in any manner? **

When I first started posting I was likely around 15 or 16. I was quite immature (not that there has been any significant improvement) and hardly ever had any sensible posts. I somehow ended up visiting Religion forum and I'd just argue and bicker senselessly. However, over a short period of time, I got into looking up material and learning. Since then it has been a real learning experience for me.

If anything, GS has been a source of making me a far more learned and enlightened individual. As intolerant I may appear, GS has been an avenue of making me far more tolerant and patient. However, I've still got a very long way to go. In addition, I've learned about quite a few cultures and practices of Pakistanis and non-Pakistanis alike.

There's quite a lot I've learned from other forums.

haha... I think a better one, but there's still heck a lot of work that needs to be done.

More or less on a regular basis, though I don't stay on for long during school days due to the heavy load. Given that I'm off this week, I've been spending quite a lot of time. I'd say I visit GS on a daily basis with the exception of days when I have exams or other serious studying to do.

** 8. How often do you post on here? **

More or less on a daily basis.

** 9. What are some places that you access GS from? **

I visit GS from home and college. I hardly ever visit GS when at relatives' place.

** 10. Is there anything else that you'd like to share?**

It's truly been an amazing experience. Can't really think of anything else at the moment.

    love gs and love how the Admin has set rules and regulation to keep it this way. It is one of the best organized desi forums.

I was searching for some pictures of Pakistan to use for my project and I came across Image gallery. That was around 2000. Then I started visiting it again during 2002 and used to post in poetry only. Then came to know cafe and I’ve been on GS since.

I had one that I used to use to visit poetry. Then when I started posting in cafe, I got that one deleted and registered with Shikra. Then I was bored once in 2003 and I registered with Sohail A. I think there are 2 other nicks that I used to use for special purposes, but currently I am using Shikra only, and sometimes Sohail A.

Cafe, Audio, and Video ofcourse, as I am a/the moderator there. Also feedback, Moderators, and RF everyday. Sometimes I visit images2.

I had heard about it but never joined…someone gave me a link to a thread in the Cafe debating about Halloween being haraam/halaal, so that’s when I joined. I’ve been here for a little over a year.

Umm I’ve had a few different usernames, but this will always be my main username. :slight_smile: I’ve had choti.moti, fatima_, and thatbrownkid (i had SO MUCH FUN multinicking with thatbrownkid…sigh)

I spend more time on the internet, and I’ve learned a LOT more about my homeland’s culture and language. I’ve also learned a lot more about Islam, and realized that not everyone has the same views as others (even within Islam itself).

Hmm I can’t say GS was the reason I’ve changed over the past year or so, but I have changed drastically from this annoying, cheap, rude ABCD to the annoying, dumb, brat I am today. :phati:

Well, I was TOTALLY addicted to GS the first two years I was here and I must say it effected everything else in my life in a bad way. Then I took a break, and now I think I’ve found a good balance :stuck_out_tongue:

naaa..back in 2000 I had something else but then that got banned! So, after 5 yrs…I came back as Evilmastermind in August 2005. I have other nicks but I don’t use them often…EMM is all rounder :k:

Its good data and you can write a paper base on this data. You need to get SPSS 13 Version and see the correlation and cross tabulation between spending of time and level of productivity.
