Ammi made a big omlett and some toast for nashtaa this morning. So we’re all sitting at the table eating, and I see there’s also this small bowl of some mushroom and onion mix stuff with masaala in it and whatnot. So I ask my Dad to pass me the bowl and he gives it to me and I put a few in my plate (mushrooms go GREAT with omlett).
I take a bite into a nice big round mushroom and all of a sudden I think to myself “This is DISGUSTING!”…So I’m like “uh, Ammi? These are mushrooms, right?!” and within a second I hear my sister reply with laughter going, “No hahahahahhhaa..it’s KALAYGII! That’s like goat liver!”
I couldn’t possibly explain to you how disgusted I was, but within a fraction of a second, I ran straight to the trashcan SCREAMING and spit everything out. I did ‘kulllee’ about 5 times and then I just stood there with a napkin in my hand over my mouth - eyes getting all watery. Everyone at the table was laughing like crazy - especially my Dad. He literally laughed for 5 minutes straight to the point where his eyes got all watery. I was really mad at my Dad for not telling me what that stuff was, and I told him I hated him. Then he said kay “Willahi I did not know you didn’t know it was kalaygii. Mein tey aapay kheraan si kay tu kalaygii khaundi paiy si!”
I guess it’s really nobody’s fault. This is by far the most disgusting thing I’ve ever eaten - and atleast I didn’t swallow it. But I can’t tell you how disgusting it was to have just bitten into it only to find out what it really was the next second.
Dude, I L O V E klaiji and tilli of goats  Ever Baqr Eid, we used to fry them and enjoy them I don’t like the heart though, it looks like a klaiji but it does not taste like klaiji
Actually you'd like my family phatima. Ever since the day nearly 10 years ago that my dad became cholestrol conscious there has been no kalaygi served at the dinner table ever!
