Something if said in Urdu is fine but if said in English sounds gross.
Two examples:
Cow feet sounds gross but Paya sounds yummy.
Brain sounds offensive but Bheja is delicious.

It is not about getting used to word. Some words sound offensive in Urdu/Punjabi but not in English.
For example crap/*. If you use Urdu or Punjabi substitute for this word during conversation people will be staring at you , but * or crap sounds so civilized.:D

Mirch...man dont eat brains, esp of cows!!!! Mad cow disease can be transmitted, no matter how long you cook it and no matter how high the temperature, it just doesnt die. And granted, its not a rampant disease but there is no cure at all, just a fast and dire decline into madness and then death after it incubates in your system for anywhere from one year up to 10 years. Its a really really nasty thing that lives in cow brains and can be transmitted to humans if they eat the brains. There are so many other delicious things to eat....give this one up, dont take the chance yeah?

You are right , I don't, but it used to be a delicacy back home , I have been out for long time now , so I do not know if this mad cow disease scare has made any difference there. I have not seen it being sold anywhere in USA.
