Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

I thin it's too early for Ganguly to retire. If relieved of his captaincy (and his place in the side), he should get back to the drawing board and work real hard to get his form back. Captaincy may have made him a little laid back and he stopped working on his fitness and batting, but it's time to do so now. Sacking doesn't mean the end of his career.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

I think Sardar should also be kicked out along with Gangu. Sardar sucks anyway.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

N&S!

Out with Ganguly if the email is accurate.

Bye

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

In order to comment on the possible consequences and ramifications of a certain incidence, it is important to evaluate the possible benefits which different parties who are directly involved in that incidence would gain out of it. In this particular case, Chappel and Ganguly are the two parties.

One would argue and rightly so that what would Chappel gain out of this messy incidence? Is he a mere controlled freak or is he trying to assert his position as a coach in order implement his vision for Team India. Chaappel has joined the Indian team just few months ago and therefore the likelihood of Chappel having an attitude problem towards a certain player or players is highly unlikely. On the other hand, ganguly is about to lose his career forever. Therefore, it is obvious who would get into petty tactics. Isn’t it?

A certain fraction of Indian media is blaming Chappel for being tactless, ruthless and unaware of Indian culture and traditions. So what are those Indian traditions and culture? No one dared to tell us this. Probably, disclosing a private chat with the coach in public or leaking a highly confidential email from the coach are the traditions of Indian culture which of course Chappel would never be able to adhere to.

If one follows the sequence of this messy incidence in a chronological order, it is obvious that Chappel has not done anything extremely unusual. Given the obvious lack of depth in Ganguly’s batting for so long and extremely optimistic performance by kaif, wont the coach be justified to have a frank discussion with the skipper? Now that the contents of his emial are fully disclosed, it is pretty obvious that it was not only ganguly’s bad batting but the coach was also not happy with the skipper’s attitude.

And what is this entire hullabaloo about Chappel being a double faced person who after setting up a truce with the skipper decides to send an email against him to BCCI. If you read his email, it is pretty obvious that at the end of the tour, like every other coach, he is also sending the final report to BCCI summarizing his point of view. Do you really expect him to keep quite without revealing his real feelings just because he had made truce with an irresponsible skipper to save the tour?

Exactly my toughts…the problem with most Indian cricketers is that fame and public adulation gets into their heads…they don’t realize that International cricket is a short-term career option for the best of players and they should make the most of it while they are capable of representing the team. Most players recede into oblivion pretty quickly.

Once out of the team, people like Ganguly/Harbhajan will soon realize their aukaat. Look at what is happening to Azharuddin now or for that matter Jadeja or Prabhakar or Mongia (anybody shedding any tears for them now?). Harbhajan is not a great player anyways. Once he is kicked out and starts to travel Indian Railways for Duleep Trophy matches, he will regret what he said about Greg Chappel.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

One thing I know, it is not Indian culture to betray somebody’s trust and divulge confidential communication provided by him to the public.

Some heads in the BCCI must roll too…but I don’t believe that’s gonna happen.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

There is no need. Very soon this loot-mar gang of Dalmiya-Mahendra-Ganu will be out. Pawar-Bindra-Rajsingh will be back in power. Just wait for next election of BBCI. This will be end of Ganguly. Some cleaning up is necessary.

This incident will identify very well, guys who will have long term potential. One thing is sure Chappel is not going to compromise of somethings like fitness and descipline. Later is definitly must. This star culture should go. Beware Gangu, Bhajju, Sachin. Here come Chappel !!!

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

here comes chappel with a Chappal in his hand…

Re: Full Text of Greg Chappel’s Email - Very Interesting Read !!

In my opinion, the most important line of the 6 page email was the following :

Re: Full Text of Greg Chappel’s Email - Very Interesting Read !!

Yep… !!!

Sorry…In my list of casualties to come I forgot to mention Nehra. I think has has pissed of Chappel big time with his sloppy fielding and injury issues.

Talking about Sachin, I dont see immediate danger for him. But if he doesnt get into form quickly then He will also be history soon.
I am liking it. !!!
Cheers for Chappel and his Chappal.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

Confidential email was sent ONLY to Dalmiya and Mahendra, how it ended up in news papers & TV reports? Do they share their password with reporters?

I was just reading Herbajan’s interview about the saga, poor sardar was already struggling with form and now this…looks like only Ganguly as a captain can assure Sardar jee of his position in a team thats y he is …

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

OK..I have a great deal of respect for Sikhs but what Harbhajan did was quintessential Sardar.
I mean one does not know if Sourav Ganguly is even going to be around anymore..and our Sardar already made his loyalties known. If he was smart, he should have kept quiet. Now if Gangu is kicked out....I am sure there will be no love lost between Chappel and Harbhajan.

Having said that, I am personally for dropping Harbhajan and bringing in Pawar....

Re: Full Text of Greg Chappel’s Email - Very Interesting Read !!

That was really, well said.. Its the bitter truth, which the Indian team shold realize.

Just see what Pakistan has to say after the inclusion of Mr Wolmer to the side. Pakistan is playing good cricket..

Pakistan kicked Actors butt. Ganguly can be kicked out as well..

Re: Full Text of Greg Chappel’s Email - Very Interesting Read !!

I don’t see Chappel lasting if he goes after Tendulkar too. Tendulkar is Tendulkar, even if he’s out of form. Remember the Australia series a couple of years ago? Tendulkar, in the whole of 2003, had scored something like 200 test runs. Then bang, at the stroke of 2004 he was back in form with a DOUBLE century in Australia, thus making more runs in ONE innings than in the entire previous year.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

Gangu is embarassing himself more and more with these tactics.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

:hehe: Dungarpur accuses Dalmiya camp for leak

Raj Singh Dungarpur, former BCCI president, today accused Jagmohan Dalmiya of leaking Greg Chappell’s email to the media in order to save Sourav Ganguly. At a press conference in Mumbai Dungarpur, dwelling on incidences of dressing room tantrums and indiscipline among players, said Ganguly has “no place in the future of Indian cricket”, and claimed that nothing would be settled at Tuesday’s review committee meeting.

Never quite known to be discreet, Dungarpur seems to have, however, surpassed himself. Speaking on the eve of what could well be one of Indian cricket’s turning point’s - the board’s review committee meets in the city to debate, among other things, the ramifications of Chappell’s falling out with his captain - he said: “If Dalmiya did not rule Indian cricket, Ganguly would have gone a long time ago. They will try and thrash out a compromise, but for how long that works remains to be seen. The same panel which appointed Chappell just three months ago is unlikely to turn against him.”

According to the Press Trust of India Dungarpur, who has managed four Indian teams in the past, said he was “numbed to learn that Dalmiya is behind the leaking of the confidential e-mail essentially sent to the board president” by Chappell. He added that Chappell had been asked to send a report via e-mail not only to Ranbir Singh Mahendra, the board president, and the secretary but also to Kiran More, the selection committee chairman, and Dalmiya, among others.

“I shudder to imagine how such a sensitive report was marked to all and sundry. The entire exercise is nothing but to save one man, Sourav Ganguly”, he said. He claimed that Dalmiya cannot afford to even mildly admonish Ganguly because such action would not go down well in Kolkata where he lives.

“No wonder, Ganguly is so emboldened by this spineless of the former ICC chief and he has now no qualms in undermining coach Greg Chappell and openly challenging him,” Dungarpur alleged. “Ganguly knows he has the license to kill as long as Dalmiya is there.”

He also came down severely on Harbhajan Singh’s statement yesterday supporting his captain. “He should concentrate on his arm, rather than talk about whether Ganguly is right or wrong,” he said. “Once a chucker always a chucker,” was his verdict on India’s talented off spinner who recently crossed the 200 wicket mark in Test cricket.

**Dungarpur recalled several occasions when players, including some greats, blew their top and had to be reined in. “In the 1984 match against Pakistan, Kapil Dev was clearly out lbw. But he didn’t think so and back in the dressing room he started banging his head against the wall and proceeded to wreck his bat,” he said. “I had to caution him to take it easy and not to let the incident snowball into a confrontation with the opposing team and drag our name in the mud.” **

The former board president also described the current controversy as more serious than the episode in 1936 when Lala Amarnath was sent back from England by the team manager “for indiscipline”.

Saying that differences of opinion, however serious, should be kept confined to the dressing room, Dungarpur sought to shed more light on Ganguly’s insecurity. “Recently he met me at Lord’s where I found him unduly perturbed and fidgety on the matter of his six-match ban for slow over rates. I then took him to meet ICC president Eshan Mani to see if he could do something to reduce it. Eshan said he won’t be able to do anything but advised Ganguly to take it easy - that there was so much cricket being played, missing a few matches should actually be seen as a relief. My point is I have nothing, no axe to grind against Ganguly.”

Dungarpur argued that the coach-captain spat should be resolved on the merits of the issue and that no quarter should be given to player indiscipline. He spoke about Harbhajan being a perpetual defaulter in this regard and how he was even known to tear up dietary charts whenever vexed with coaching regimens.

Meanwhile, Lalit Modi, president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the reinstatement of the two observers for the board’s AGM when it reconvenes. The petition also appealed to the court to order the AGM to be held before September 30 and not in two months time as the Calcutta High Court has decreed.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

It is a shame that matters came to such a low point. This has been one of the high profile incidence and I am certain that at least one of them will go. Maybe both but at least Ganguly will go.

I also wonder how BCCI is leaking such emails and incidents at own leisure. It should not have been made public in the first place by Ganguly but media has really blown it up to a point-of-no-return.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

Any action (or lack of it) againast ganguly now depends on how strong is Dalmiya's Camp. From articals all around the media it looks like Ganguly has Dalmiya's backing from long time and its still there.

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

He also came down severely on Harbhajan Singh's statement yesterday supporting his captain. "He should concentrate on his arm, rather than talk about whether Ganguly is right or wrong," he said. "Once a chucker always a chucker," was his verdict on India's talented off spinner who recently crossed the 200 wicket mark in Test cricket.

Well Done Mr DUNGAR!!!!! At least he realises that Bhajji is a Chucker and should shut his mouth up and try yo improve his action.
He is a Chucker just like Shabbir, there is no DOUBT!!!

Re: Greg Chappel emails BCCI / Full Text (merged)

tsk tsk... whata shame, sub ek doosray ki chaddiyan bazaar mai latka rahay hayn.
