Greetings from an Indian

My greetings to all the people in this forum. I am from India, and I would like to use this forum to talk to my brothers and sisters from pakistan. If you will allow me, please read what I have to say.

I think most of the hatred on both sides is due to a lack of understanding of each other. It is such a pity that we are enemies even though we share a common culture, food and history. People think we are divided by religion, but I disagree. There are almost 100 million muslims in India and I dont think they are any less Indian than I am just because of religion.

So I would like to join this forum, if you will allow me. I would like to understand the feelings of young pakistanis like all of you. I will do my best to tell you about young indians like myself. Most Indians I know want peace with Pakistan. I am sure there are like-minded people in Pakistan too. I think the future of peace and harmony between our countries lies in our hands. Together our countries can achieve a lot to improve the lives of our people. If we stop focussing on fighting each other, we can spend all that money on development.

I look forward to hearing from all of you,

shankar

Shankar, welcome to GS. I hope you enjoy your stay. There are other indian members on this board already, so you dont have to say that if (GS admins) will allow you.

Re: Greetings from an Indian

Hi Shankar,

Welcome to Gupshup!

I agree with you. I wish our governments would stop spending money on weapons and spend on people instead.

See ya around :)

Re: Greetings from an Indian

Shankar Welcome to GS. I hope you stay here longer than I can. I can only stay here for a few days but then it gives me the motion sickness. So I leave and then come back a few years later.

Re: Greetings from an Indian

^ yeah, with another nick. :)

Re: Greetings from an Indian

welcome aboard. I think the indians are in pak affairs forum, but nevertheless, I agree with your thinking.

Re: Greetings from an Indian

:) Thank you all! I was trying to understand some of the phrases written in Urdu/punjabi on this website. Though some words seem familiar, it is still difficult to fully understand. A native Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi speaker in India may be able to understand more. I am not a native speaker of any of these, I speak Tamil, which is a language from southern India. It is completely different from hindi/urdu. In fact I think a person from Delhi will find it easier to communicate with Pakistanis than to a lot of other Indians. Amazing isn't it. :)

Re: Greetings from an Indian

^^ Thoda zyada hi hi-fi ho gaya

Re: Greetings from an Indian

Thanks Pak brave heart! Wow! I have never been called a "muslim-friendly hindu" before!:) I guess thats a compliment. It is true that some hindus are not friendly with muslims and vice-versa, particularly in north and west india. In the south, we are pretty much bum-chums. I studied in a muslim college, i had a muslim room-mate for 3 years. We celebrate id, ramzan as much as we do diwali and holi. I have grown up eating haleem, nihari and biriyani at my friends and neighbours houses. Its not just me, most hindus i know are the same.
