Re: Greetings from an Indian
Hi, Shankar
Perhaps everybody has welcomed u a lot and u would not feel strange here.
Now we should move further from just welcoming
Tell me do u ppl have any solution about getting close and removing such hatered
we in Pakistan think that Kashmir is the root of all problems and solving it may solve rest of the issues.
or in other words if the kashmir issue is solved.. there wont be more hater.
What do u think..
Re: Greetings from an Indian
Hi shahzad, I completely agree with you. I believe that our main problem is the Kashmir issue. If we get past that, we have virtually nothing to disagree about. (apart from a few minor issues).
Now, the solution... well, i have spoken a lot about this with my friends in India. It is a very common topic in coffee houses and colleges. The bottom line is most Indians believe the majority of muslim kashmiris want to be either independant or pakistani. However, most hindu kashmiris want to be part of India. A large portion of Muslim kashmir is already in Pakistani control. A smaller part is in Chinese control, given to them by your army. Of the part of kashmir that is still in Indian control, almost half is Jammu (which as you all know is majority hindu), some of it is Ladakh (which is buddhist and has no intention to leave India). The difficult portion is the part of muslim kashmir (including srinagar) which is still in India. There are some in India that say that we should just leave that part of kashmir and withdraw our army. We would save the lives of hundreds of young soldiers, and hundreds of innocent civilians who are caught in the crossfire between the armed militants and the army. The difficulty in that is the hundreds of thousands of kashmiri hindus who had to flee their homes in srinagar and surrounding areas due to persecution by the militants. What will happen to them? They consider kashmir to be theirs also. Of all the groups fighting for azadi or to join pakistan, only the JKLF used to say that hindu kashmiris are welcome in an independant kashmir. Today they are a minor player in all this.
I still think there can be a peaceful solution to this problem. India is willing to accept the current line of control as the border. Who knows, india may even withdraw a little more in the future. But the biggest problem to this is terrorism. As you can appreciate by looking at 9/11, any act of bombing aimed at India sets back the efforts of peace-loving indians by a few years. Everytime a bomb explodes in india, the hawks score a point in their argument. No country will withdraw in the face of the gun, unless they are forced to.
So my pakistani friends, I believe we can solve this issue peacefully, but there has to be an understanding of india's democracy. No politician in India can be seen to be weak in the face of terrorism. No one will risk their political careers by giving concessions, when indian soldiers and innocent civilians are targetted by bombs. I believe there is still massive support in India for a peaceful solution. Indians are tired of hearing bad news from kashmir. We would much rather make a few concessions and move on rather than be involved indefinitely in a fight that no one can win. But there needs to be an atmosphere that is conducive to making a few concessions. Now a bus-link has started. But guess what will happen if a bomb is planted on that bus!
I can fully understand your support for fellow muslims in kashmir, but providing weapons, bombs and training does not help them. They cannot hope to beat the Indian nation with a few guns and bombs. The only thing that achieves is loss of kashmiri lives, and a few indian ones. Do you know how many innocent indian muslims were killed in the bombay blasts of 93? Or how many indian muslim soldiers and police officers in kashmir are killed? What about them?
I am glad to hear from the pakistani government that they are actively trying to stop cross-border movement of weapons and bombs. That is a positive step. I am sure that if there is peace for sometime, the Indian side will definitely make some compromises. We want to see peace with pakistan. We want our soldiers to come back. We would love to see the crores of rupees being spent in kashmir to be saved so that it can be spent on tackling poverty elsewhere in India.
Thats the view of one indian atleast!:) what do you guys think?
Lets hope for peace in our time!
Re: Greetings from an Indian
Well.. its really great to know the indian mindset.. And as like Indians, Pakistan is also against terrorism.. But i think we should think little bit behind the scene...
In Labanon.. Who killed rafiq al hariri.. Nither Labanon itself nor Syria..
Its someone else.. the one who wants syrian 'Hizbullah' out of labanon and occupy golan higits.
I know you must be thinking why does i brnig thing incident in such discussion.. but my point of view is that there are some others who are not thinking like we do..
It had been happning since we have open eyes in free countries..
Now my point of view is .. once we (The nations) are agreed on one thing.. say we are agreed to solve the kashmir issue (what so ever is the solution) and the third one or the hidden one does not wants it in that way.. the terrorism will be generated.. the Indian part will assume that Pakistan is behind this and vise versa
We should think in terms of unity.. Like Europe..
Thats the soluion in my eyes
Thank you
