Green Turbans Sect...

I notice that there are some mosque’s where the imam or local followers wear green turbans (and / or possibly hats). I also notice that the imam starts chanting immediately after the jamaat prayer, and the local followers also do the same.

Please can someone tell me if there is a specific name for this practice or followers of this practice, and is it generally acceptable in Islam.

I in NO WAY intend to offend anyone by this question, I just want information, thanks.

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

Those are Barelvis

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

Please be careful with the 'word' sect. The people you have mentioned here are from Ahl-u-Sunnah Rai Barelvia they are one of, if not the biggest group of Hanafis in the world and Hanafis are the biggest of the four madhabs in numbers and their 'aqeedah is exactly as per Ahl-u-Sunnah wal Jammat. Their differences are purely on a fiqh basis and their practices are confirmed as acceptable, so long as we do not start to cast our idea or belief on them or pretend to know what their intention is. They are from the sub-group most likely Dawat-e-Islami.

They may follow Qadiriya in tariqa.

Re: Green Turbans Sect…

^^ :k:

Thier religious leader is Imam Ilayas Attari ,i think

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

They account for 67% of Pakistani Sunni Muslim population... dunno how accurate that figure is but sounds right.. the rest are Deobandis and small number of Ahle-Hadis and as mentioned above, they are not sects, all difference of opinion.. Brothers in Islam!

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

And Hari Pagri is just their way of showing closeness to religion. These may be closer to Noorani Group.

Some people wear brown Pagri. Some wear no Pagri in Hanafi-Sunni group. (Ahle-Sunnat Wal-jamaat).

These are somewhat different from Deo-Bandi-Wahaabi group of hanafi sect.

Deobandi and Salafi are two different schools... and 'Hanafi' is not a sect is a madhab.

JazakAllah khair brother cricketplaya for the clarification. Deobandis are actually far closer to Barelvis than they are to Wahabis. Problem is that this is not often realised.

To be a Wahabi or to be accurate a follower of Abdul Wahab one needs to be from the lineage of Hanbalis.

There are traditional Hanbalis, and there are Wahabis. The Salafis although do not associate to any group are closest to the Wahabis due to their greater association with Imam bin Hanbal.

Amongst the Salafis there are groups too.

Both Rai Barelviya and Rai Deobandia are the two Indian Subcontinent Hanafi groups. There are sub-groups from amongst both of these. Tablighi-Jammat are part of Deobandis but not all Deobandis do Tabligh(Kharooj). And groups like Minhaj-ul-Qur'an and Dawat-e-Islami are from Barelvia.

Please acknowledge all of these as brothers in Islam and do not call them sects.

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

^I guess its more complex than I thought.

I just differentiate them as those who do
Naat Khwani, Salaam, Qawwali (Ahle-Sunnat) etc. and those who do not proscribe these things (Ahle-Hadees).

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

Well, I don't think any of such group consist of bad Muslims, but there definitely is one group that wears green turbun and gives an impression to the world that the most important work in the world is to make naats on the tunes of bollywood songs of 70s and 80s and then sing it while moving one's body in such a way that it almost looks like dancing.

In Islam we have far more important duties than too frequently organizing such gatherings. A lot of times I have heard people saying ," Oh...I remember this tune, it is one of the bollywood songs"

p.s. Whats up with doing too much "Ah!, ah!ah!..." in the back ground while reciting naats.

I apologise if anyone felt bad about it, but my intentions were not against any specific sect. I only intended to point at what I saw on TV / youtube and found quite unreasonable. Though I might be totally wrong.

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

^ Agree with you 100%. But I think/hope the question is answered.

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

i guess they r the group with the most bid'aat in them.... right????

and i think they started this madani channel recently....
its worse than QTV....

Peace brother armughal

That may appear so .. but they are not group who are the most avid at alienating others from Islam.

Sir, its depends whats the meaning of Biddah you take. By sure, according to Ibne Uthmeen and other scholars of Saudia , everything is Biddat except what they practice !!!

If celebrating/remebering the joys of day when Prophet(pbuh) came and qawalli and saying Ya Rassollah or reciting durood before Azzan is Biddat , then alhumdullilah , 90% of muslims of the world are Biddati by the grace of Allah !

Re: Green Turbans Sect…

Those green turban people call themselves ‘‘jannat ke taute (parrorts)’’ :omg:

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

meethai meethai pyarai pyarai tautai :D

Psyah. Thank you thank you thank you.

Wish everyone realizes this "basic" requirement in Pakistan (and abroad).

I wouldn't say four madhabs. four different schools of thought is more in lines with their idealogy. IMO.

I agree to rest of it.

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

^ in arabic, madhab wud mean something similar to "school of thought"....

Re: Green Turbans Sect...

oh I see, but it can be misinterpreted very easily. So it's better to avoid such words, if they can cause some confusion.
